I can look at the Briton Riviere pictures you posted, over and over. Riviere was a painter of animals, he lived near the London zoo so he was often there studying the physiology of animals. Daniel, hands tied but strong in his faith, peacefully looking at the lions that are in various stages of aggression and fear. Don’t you love the silent communion with the main lion, its eyes fixed on Daniel? Great painting.
Of course love the beautiful stained glass window of Burne-Jones.
Jan Brueghel the Elder also painted this scene, the only true colors are from a Getty image which I refuse to post as Getty’s logo ruins it.
