Revelation 14
6And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
9And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
It specifically has to do with the 4th commandment. Look at the language in v7 and compare it to Exodus 20:11
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
You receive the mark of the beast if you WORSHIP the beast. Those who keep the COMMANDMENTS OF GOD will not receive the mark of the beast as Rev 14:12 shows, because they keep the 7th day Sabbath as the 4th commandment clearly commands of us.
Ah, so now you acknowledge there is a mark that one gets on their hand or forehead.
Ahhh but the passage doesn’t say that worship constitutes a mark as in some type of spiritual mark place on the soul when he bows down to the beast. A person actually has to get a mark on the RIGHT HAND OR FOREHEAD.
A person could bow down to the beast but then repent later. But if he receives a public mark on the right hand or forehead, then that person has “sealed” his fate!
It a reverse of the Christian salvation experience where a person publicly confesses Christ as his Lord and Savior and believes in his heart that God has raised him from the dead. He then gets baptized as a public affirmation that he is now a believer in Jesus Christ sharing in the belief of the burial of the old man and the raising up of the new child of God that water baptism symbolizes and the cleansing of one’s sins. Such a person receives the Holy Spirit and is indwelt by the Spirit. The Father can see the image of the Son in such a person having placed that person into the hands of the Son.
The receiving of the Beast Mark will be a person’s public affirmation that such a deluded person is now one with the Beast and with Satan. Such a person has rejected salvation for all time.
The mark isn’t just some hyper symbolized or spiritualized impression placed on a soul, obviously the taking of the mark does that and certainly open hearted embracement of the beast does damn you if you don’t repent. It is an actual mark; that is why there is emphasis on the placement of said mark on the RIGHT HAND OR FOREHEAD.** I don’t think it is necessarily 666 for that is the calculated number of the beast’s name but it will be HIS mark just the same.
**It is silly to twist the language of Revelation to argue that the “mark” is the marking of a soul due to worship of the beast. An invisible soul mark would be on the soul not on the RIGHT HAND OR FOREHEAD! A visible mark would be placed on the right hand or forehead....where people could see it out in the open!
