Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven,
How Blessed is Your Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise and Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Thank You For being Our Peace,
Thank You For Delivering us from all fear.
Thank You For Filling Our Hearts and Minds With Your Comfort And Assurance.
Even though We May Feel Very Small,
And the whole weight of society seems to militate against us.
Thank You for using the Little Things to bring down the huge obstacles.
Thank You for using the foolish things to confound the "wise".
In times like these, it is easy to feel like Gideon,
The most insignificant member of a powerless group,
And facing oppression and overwhelming odds on all sides.
Thank You for being YHVH Shalom, The LORD Our Peace.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 110

Of David. A Psalm.

1 The Lord says to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies your footstool.’

2 The Lord sends out from Zion
your mighty sceptre.
Rule in the midst of your foes.
3 Your people will offer themselves willingly
on the day you lead your forces
on the holy mountains.*
From the womb of the morning,
like dew, your youth* will come to you.
4 The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest for ever according to the order of Melchizedek.’*

5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgement among the nations,
filling them with corpses;
he will shatter heads
over the wide earth.
7 He will drink from the stream by the path;
therefore he will lift up his head.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I am not a "Military Historian", but I have always understood that WW1 was as bloody as it was because of the use of modern weaponry combined with Ancient Battlefield tactics. The Tank, The Machine Gun, The Submarine, and even a form or Air Surveillance, could be traced back to America's Civil War in one form or another (Hot-Air balloons, Gatling Guns, and The Hunley), but it was in WW1 that these machines of war were used extensively. And yet, the troops moved across the same areas that Napoleon had marched over 100 years earlier, and many of the tactics were similar. Thus, we saw thousands of men going "Over The Top" only to be mowed down by machine gun fire. The high officers of both sides dressed like they were in an 19th-Century operetta, with chestfuls of medals and feathered hats while millions died in the blood-soaked mud of Europe.

Operation Fortitude, during WW2 in the days building up to D-Day, was a whole different strategy. Decoys, deception, and secrecy replaced the strutting officers in their plumed hats. Because of the absolute secrecy of this operation, the Allies were able to land on D-Day in a place the enemy had not suspected.

Even though Gideon started out with 32,000 men, God had other plans. Lest Gideon think it was due to the strength of his own army, God tells him to pare it down. The best way to do this was to send home anyone whose heart wasn't in the fight. That left 10,000. But God said it was still too many.

Now here is where it gets interesting. God tells Gideon to take the men to water and watch how they drink. The ones who stick their head in the water to drink (like sheep) are sent home. The ones who scoop water and lap it with their tongues (like dogs) are the ones who will fight. The soldier who lapped kept his eyes up and open, vigilant like a sheep dog. The ones who stuck their head in the water were only thinking of satisfying their own thirst.

That left Gideon with only 300 men, but I have seen a shepherd with a crew of only three Border Collies round up thousands of sheep!

With just 300 men, ordinary battle tactics would be useless. And so, God gives a dream to one of Gideon's subordinates about a loaf of bread. And, just like the elaborate deception that helped turn the tide of WW2, Gideon's Army was able to defeat the Midianites.

And they didn't even have Machine Guns.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

_HEN Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.

And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.

And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.

And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.
