Must have been a divine bread to give Elijah the sustenance he needed to travel 40 days and 40 nights...who could live on bread and water?
Many favorite paintings, I very much like #30, #36 (Flemish paintings are so special) and #50.
Happy Thanksgiving, FRiend!

I read a persuasive argument that "40+40" was OT hyperbole and in actuality 11 days was realistic, which is still substantial.
The facial expressions in #50 are cute.

who could live on bread and water? What we think of as bread may not be what they prepared -- they were more likely to make flatbread "fritters" out of any ground grains and whole or dried vegetables available, like barley, corn, oats, root vegetables, nuts, etc, kneaded together and fried in oil.
