Pope Francis was widely quoted this week supporting same-sex civil unions which have been available in Aotearoa New Zealand since 26 April 2005. This is a comment on the pope's statement by Bishop Patrick Dunn, Bishop of Auckland and President of the NZ Catholic Bishops Conference:
I endorse the reported comments of Pope Francis. I know that he is anxious for LGBTQ people to know that they are valued members of the family of the Church as they are of their own families. We want their happiness, and for them to know that they are loved.
Pope Francis made the remarks in a new documentary film, Francesco, about his life and teachings.
The full quote is: Homosexual people have a right to be in a family. Theyre children of God, have the right to a family. You cant kick someone out of a family, nor make their life miserable for this. What we have to have is a civil coexistence law; they have the right to be legally covered.
Read a Crux Now article on the Pope's comments. Read a Vatican News article about the documentary.
Already seen it and posted on it.
What’s your point?
You can’t name one poster who stated what you claimed, can you?
Some people think they can lie without getting caught. It always catches up with them.
Why don't you really be honest and admit you were not telling the truth?
Jesus was both human and devine. No other man is devine.
It’s “divine”.
And you didn’t answer the question about Christ’s celibacy.
This Pope’s bizarre endorsement of homosexual civil unions is related to the mandatory celibacy discipline for ordained priests. As explained that requirement has resulted in large numbers of sexually healthy heterosxual men from entering the priesthood. The result, as has been seen, is that homosexuals agnostics in large numbers have entered the priesthood, and have an inordinate presence and influence in the hierarchy. Stand by my comments if not my spelling. There will continue to be predatory and doctrinal abominations until the corrupt Jesuit order is disbanded and mandatory celibacy is no longer required.
I has nothing to do with it. You're confusing sodomy with celibacy, a wild stretch of the imagination.
Sorry but you have a deep mental block. You are unable to recognize that while manditory celibacy is a huge obstacle for normal heterosexual men to enter the priesthood, it is no real obstacle for homosexuals. They have polluted the priesthood and the hierarchy with their agnosticism and predatory behavior. They masquarade and do harm to the Church and confuse the faithful.Next thing you’ll probably say is that you know some really good homosexual priests and bishops.Try to understand that if normal, heterosexual men dominated the priesthood and hierarchy, these vile homosexuals would have never been tolerated and the Church would not be in crisis at a time when the world needs a clear moral beacon and guidance. Wake up.
I don’t have a mental block; but you seem to have a randy mind.
All unmarried Catholics are expected to remain celibate until their wedding day. It’s not impossible to remain celibate, allendale. I didn’t marry until I was 34 years old.
