HOLLAND Keith Mannes has given his life to the Christian Reformed Church, serving as a pastor for more than 30 years. Hes done so happily and thankfully.
But on Oct. 11, Mannes gave his last sermon and walked away from ministry among increasing political tension and divisiveness.
Put simply, he stepped away due to the churchs broad support of President Donald Trump.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
Go join the Episcopalians or ELCA. THEY LOVE idiots like you.
I will be up front and say that, while I consider myself a Christian who believes in God and Jesus, and who prays, I am not a churchgoing Christian.
I am trying to find God.
That said, I have come to the conclusion that that people who back politicians like Clinton, Biden, Obama, Pelosi, Kennedy, et al, can simply not be Christian. I just don’t see how they can.
Your excellent post pretty much summarized why I feel that way. The contrast is a stark one indeed.
Thank you for that link, Jan_Sobieski. I will check it out.
Former presidents of both Fuller Seminary and Gordon-Conwell are on the Biden bandwagon. Those are both Reformed institutions. Both John Piper and Tim Keller have a large influence on Reformed churchs today. Not sure about Piper, but Tim Keller believes the white race (as a whole) is guilty of slavery. Im sure these teachings have clouded their thinking.
That wouldn’t be Covenant Theological Seminary would it?
These men are hirelings, not good shepherds. Or perhaps even wolves in sheeps clothing. Why dont they condemn the Democrat party for almost 200 years of racism, slavery, KKK, Jim Crow, segregation, and welfare dependency? Would these false teachers have supported the Confederacy? What about infanticide? They will be judged the worst by Jesus Christ
Satan’s worker-bees come in many disguises...
Imagine the communist filth this scumbag has promulgated during his reign as pastor...
Hmmm... Is it “fagot” or “faggot” when the ministry is involved...
They are better off without him.
Nobody needs someone who supports baby killing in the pulpit.
Reformed in the classical sense means Calvinism.
That would be Memphis Theological Seminary, the seminary founded and supported by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
Was contemplating this last night. I suspect more is going on.
He'd been with the particular congregation he's leaving for 4 years. But his personal tension started when DJT announced his run for president. So, what church is he leaving? Possibly he needed to have checked out the church more before he accepted their call?
I note that the story didn't talk with any of his congregation.
My own pastor only talks politics obliquely. I'm glad of it. My own personal politics is not going to fit well anywhere.
Maybe he’s trying to cover something up, blowing smoke about Trump to save himself the trouble of being dumped. Or, maybe not. Time will tell, now that he’s gone and they can look at the books.
Thanks.
There is well founded rumor that he wanted to do a gay wedding and was shot down. The church changed its marquee a couple years ago from a cross to four rainbow colored arrows pointing inwards to form a cross.
