According to experts, relations between the Vatican and the U.S. have experienced an extraordinary hardening in recent days
Pope Francis Sunday announced that he will not receive the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who will visit Italy next week, because "that could influence the U.S. election campaign."

Although in October 2019, The Pope received Pompeo at the Vatican, the Holiness assured that "on this occasion, I will not meet with political personalities amid electoral campaigns to avoid any kind of manipulation."
According to experts, relations between the Vatican and the U.S. have experienced an extraordinary hardening in recent days.
The Pope's refusal came after Washington criticized a China and the Vatican's agreement renewal regarding the appointment of Chinese Catholic bishops.
"Two years ago, the Holy See reached an agreement with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), hoping to help China's Catholics. Yet the CCPs abuse of the faithful has only gotten worse. " Pompeo tweeted last week.
The Holy See "should renounce to the agreement since it would jeopardize its moral authority," he added.
On September 29 and 30, Pompeo will visit Italy to attend a symposium on the advancement and defense of religious freedom organized by the U.S. Embassy in the European country.
Pope Jackass
Did Pompeo even request an audience? Or is pope just using his visit as an oblique way to bash the US?
Vatican Secretary of State Cdl. Pietro Parolin told U.S. diplomats that the pontiff was canceling his meeting with Pompeo because it might signal support for President Donald Trump's re-election campaign, La Repubblica reported Sunday.
Francis' snub is being seen as a rebuff to Pompeo's recent warning that "the Vatican endangers its moral authority" if it renews its secret deal with China a concordat which authorizes the atheist communist regime to appoint bishops.
On Monday, the Italian bishops' newspaper Avvenire confirmed the pope's outrage at Pompeo's "interference," quoting Pompeo's words about the "Vatican endangering its moral authority."
48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers ate manna in the desert and they are dead;
50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, so that a person may eat it and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.
52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 So Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you;
54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.
And then it is often pretended that Christ contradicts all this, by vs. 63:
It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
Christ does NOT contradict himself.
He means what he says in vs. 51,53,54,55,56,57,58 in His citing "my flesh".
Clearly in vs. 63 Christ refers to "the flesh" meaning human reason's inability to comprehend revealed truths apart from faith.
Don’t call us, Frank. We’ll call you.
I do not understand your point as my LCMS believes all those verses. The LCMS is very biblical.
It is more than a symbol
Does LMCS believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist?
Yes, because that is what scripture says.
Thank you for the insight.....(But, I'll remain Catholic anyway).
Why?
Because I believe in the Doctrines of the Catholic Church.
