Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, is considered one of the most powerful prelates in the United States. His power derives from his status as a member of the inner circle of Pope Francis. Where he stands on the presidential election, consequently, is a large window on FrancisChurch, and last week he gave the public a glimpse into it.
“I think that a person in good conscience could vote for Mr. Biden,” said Tobin. “I, frankly, in my own way of thinking have a more difficult time with the other option.”
“In response to a question echoing recent controversial statements by clergy and others as to whether Catholics can vote for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in good conscience, Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, indicated on Tuesday that he was personally more vexed by the prospect of voting for President Donald Trump,” reported the National Catholic Reporter. “‘I think that a person in good conscience could vote for Mr. Biden,’ said Tobin. ‘I, frankly, in my own way of thinking have a more difficult time with the other option.’”
As NCR reported, Tobin’s support for Biden “came during a Sept. 15 panel discussion co-sponsored by the Boston College’s Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life, Trinity College’s Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life and St. Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics on ‘The Church and Catholic Voters in the 2020 Election,’ moderated by Boisi Center director Fr. Mark Massa.”

Cardinal Joe Tobin mistakenly tweeted that message publicly instead of privately.
Tobin admitted to American Spectator reporter George Neumayr, that Tobin “temporarily” housed in his rectory and Italian "movie star" who posed for "beefcake photos" while the actor improved his English at a nearby school.
From George Neumayr: “Some of those concerned Catholics had called me, suspecting that Castiglione was the real recipient of Tobin's infamous accidental tweet from last February in which he declared to someone unknown, ‘Nighty-Night Baby, I love you.’
My parish priest sent a scathing email to the Cardinal. He doesn’t care if his Bishop calls him in or not. This one is for the soul of our country.
There are only a handful of U.S. Cardinals, so ANY U.S. Cardinal qualifies as a “leading prelate”. Among Cardinals, he is not as “leading” as someone from a major See, like Dolan of NY.
I am a Catholic and have been for over 70+ years.
Pope Francis is a communist, should resign and it would not surprise me if he took rides to fire island off the coast of long island.
I cannot stand to read his books or listen to his speeches.
I don't want to say I hate the Pope, but if he visited rbg today, I'd raise a glass of dago red in Honor of the Angel of Death.

Sending a scathing email is not an act of courage. People do it all the time to make themselves feel good. It also does not help. Priests are beholden to their own bishop.
Just one more Jorge Bergoglio henchman. How many Catholics in the Archdiocese of Newark will stop attending Mass because of him?

The fake pope has been quiet, publicly, about Trump and the election. But it’s well known that he supports biden, a “catholic” who supports abortion, gay marriage, seizure of property and redistribution.
I’m wondering what this pope is doing to get biden elected that we aren’t hearing about.

The abortion question aside ( which, apparently, to this Cardinal is less important than wealth redistribution ), it was under the Obama-Biden administration that gay marriage was nationalized.
