Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, is considered one of the most powerful prelates in the United States. His power derives from his status as a member of the inner circle of Pope Francis. Where he stands on the presidential election, consequently, is a large window on FrancisChurch, and last week he gave the public a glimpse into it.
I think that a person in good conscience could vote for Mr. Biden, said Tobin. I, frankly, in my own way of thinking have a more difficult time with the other option.
In response to a question echoing recent controversial statements by clergy and others as to whether Catholics can vote for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in good conscience, Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, indicated on Tuesday that he was personally more vexed by the prospect of voting for President Donald Trump, reported the National Catholic Reporter. I think that a person in good conscience could vote for Mr. Biden, said Tobin. I, frankly, in my own way of thinking have a more difficult time with the other option.
As NCR reported, Tobins support for Biden came during a Sept. 15 panel discussion co-sponsored by the Boston Colleges Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life, Trinity Colleges Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life and St. Anselm Colleges New Hampshire Institute of Politics on The Church and Catholic Voters in the 2020 Election, moderated by Boisi Center director Fr. Mark Massa.

They are going “Seinfeld”, a Church about nothing.
Headline should be:
“Leading Cardinal Supports Abortion On Demand And Infanticide.”
Cardinal Tobin, what would you know about a good conscience?
Yes, he’s the one who accidentally sent a public tweet to a gay lover and then pretended it was a message for his sister. He was also implicated in the McCarrick scandal.
I doubt it. That is why he said it.
Not from the homily I heard this morning.
The road to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops. - St. John Chrysostom
I guess the Catholic Church’s fervant opposition to abortion isn’t a thing anymore.

Don't think, Tobin. It betrays you as an anti-Christian moron.
5 will get you 10 he could probably fit a pew in his rectory.
Horse-hockey!
No one, whether he is priest or layman, is beholden to evil, apostate bishops.
Was St Joan of Arc beholden to Bishop Pierre Cauchon?
Was St Thomas Moore beholden to Bishop Thomas Cranmer?
Marchmain, your obsession with blind obedience is disturbing.
