“In about 367 AD, St. Athanasius came up with a list of 73 books for the Bible that he believed to be divinely inspired. This list was finally approved by Pope Damasus I in 382 AD, and was formally approved by the Church Council of Rome in that same year. Later Councils at Hippo (393 AD) and Carthage (397 AD) ratified this list of 73 books. In 405 AD, Pope Innocent I wrote a letter to the Bishop of Toulouse reaffirming this canon of 73 books. In 419 AD, the Council of Carthage reaffirmed this list, which Pope Boniface agreed to. The Council of Trent, in 1546, in response to the Reformation removing 7 books from the canon (canon is a Greek word meaning “standard”), reaffirmed the original St. Athanasius list of 73 books”

What is missing from the above? Is God even mentioned?

You do not know your own history and tradition. The early church RECEIVED IT. They would take NO CREDIT for the Bible. WHO DID THEY RECEIVE IT FROM?

“In about 367 AD, St. Athanasius came up with a list of 73 books for the Bible that he believed to be divinely inspired. ................

Now what does God say on the matter?

Joh 6:31 After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say, ‘Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Joh 6:32 Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven..........................

Read the above SLOWLY and let your LIPS MOVE. Do you see any connection? You think your church leaders gave you the Bible?

The Pharisee were wrong in their tradition. That is the DANGER of tradition, it morphs to mans ideas.

Now go read about Moses and manna. He was surprised by the manna as much as anyone. He had NOTHING to do with the manna.

The early church leaders had NOTHING to do with the BIBLE! They received it.
