THE GOSPEL - Be sure you are a Christian based on these four simple Bible truths!
1. Man sinned.
2. God is just, requiring a punishment for sin.
3. But out of love God sent His Son, Jesus Christ who by dying on the cross, provided forgiveness of sins in taking mans deserved punishment.
4. Therefore, by faith alone in Christs sacrifice for our sins and belief in His resurrection, man can gain eternal life.
(Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 3:21-26)
Plenty of people were baptized before Jesus died. To what end?
John’s baptism.
Where does the Bible state they were baptized AFTER the resurrection, other than the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of tongues, etc.?
Not sure I understand your question. Anyone that Paul baptized would have had to been after the resurrection.
I’m referring to the disciples and apostles Jesus had BEFORE the crucifixion and resurrection. Nowhere does the Bible mention that THEY were baptized in water, AFTER the resurrection. You had written that after the resurrection, believers had to be baptized in order to be saved, and that the thief on the cross didn’t count, because he died before the resurrection.
And likewise, nowhere does it mention that they weren’t. Interestingly, John 20:22 says they ‘received the Holy Spirit’ from Jesus breathing on them. This might be a possible explanation of why they weren’t baptized again (although we don’t know). All conversions from the book of Acts on, show believers being baptized into Christ’s DBR.
I always assume they were a part of the 3000 on the day of Pentecost. Peter had just given them the steps. Granted, it’s not specifically mentioned.
