I really don’t know much about Randy. I know he was classically inspired, admired Be Bop Deluxe’s guitarist and died tragically in a plane crash as did others like SRV, Richie Valens, Buddy Holly and some members of Lynard Skynard. There is something terrible in all this and to bring up religions confounds it even more. I think of people dying in car crashes after leaving church and ask what does that mean? If there is any meaning to it? To have Randy die so young and Ozzy still walking around as an old bat-chewing geezer is a mystery. SRV was no angel either and who knows what Buddy Holly really was about despite his innocent sounding love songs? Were they all in league with the devil? It gives pause. But regardless where they stand to God and evil they certainly had talent. And to have talent may mean to be tempted by evil — as was the case of the jazz music student in the movie Whiplash. It’s all a whirlwind of mystery. Tiny Randy with his big sound and amps, his musical force of nature, his touching and complicated instrumentals, his cool reserve and brazen licks... And to bring up good and evil in the midst of this. It makes me wonder.

That’s the point of this post, to cause us to evaluate each one of us personally before God and His righteousness. All we are is dust in the wind.

The bottom line is God loves us and sent His Son (John 3:16-17, 1 John 4:10). No matter who we are or what our social status or achievements they are but a moment in light of ETERNITY. A drop in the ocean vanity etc...

It’s all about what we will do about Jesus (Acts 4:12)?
