Why would that start with the Latin Vulgate to determine the correct translation for a document written in Greek. Especially when they have one of the earliest Greek manuscripts which is arguably older than the Vulgate?

The Gk says "kai me eisenenkes hemas eis peirasmon" ... "and not lead us into temptation". That's not different (except in word order) from the Latin "et ne nos inducas in tentationem" ... "and not us lead into temptation".

Neither one of them are close to the proposed change.
