The Methodist communion ceremony is much different from the Catholic communion.
For one thing, Methodists only get grape juice, and the Catholics get real wine.
Catholics who believe they’re “getting real wine” shouldn’t be receiving communion, either.
Unlike many folks on this forum, I won’t presume to pontificate on other folks’ beliefs so I’m not totally clear on the United Methodist perspective regarding communion.
From the Catholic perspective (the only one that matters in this case) denying Holy Communion to Joe Biden, a manifest, obstreperous, and unrepentant public sinner and heretic is an act of mercy. It’s preventing him from heaping a sin of sacrilege on top of his sins of abortion and scandal.
Actually, no: we receive the real body and blood of Our Lord, exactly as it was at the Last Supper. It’s not bread or wine anymore.
For one thing, Methodists just get grape juice, but Catholics get the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. Something no Methodist would even claim.
