In the 8th century, the Great Imam, Abu Hanifa (699-767), coined the term "House of Islam" (Dar al-Islam) as those places where Muslims enjoyed peace and security under the rule of an Islamic government....

Where are those places ?!

Maybe they prefer a religion where God sends his only begotten son to save you from your sins to an Allah who demands that you die to build his evil empire?

...Islamic armies that had already defeated both the Byzantine and Persian superpowers in their first century of existence. In Hanifa's own lifetime, these Prophet-inspired warriors rolled unabated across Buddhist Central Asia and South Asian Hindustan. By the time of Abu Hanifa's writing, Islamic kingdoms stretched from the borders of France to the Indonesian archipelago.

Setting aside the moslem issue for the moment the sweep and conquest of Islam in its first century of existence is truly astonishing. How does one go from nothing, create a new "religion," enlist so many converts, and go on the warpath against the biggest, strongest and best equipped armies in the world and WIN everywhere all in less than one hundred years? That is incredible. How did they manage to do that? Just amassing the required wealth to undertake that is amazing.

A friend of ours who was doing missionary work in a muslim country that shall remain unnamed, said the biggest factor in turning muslims against islam is sharia law.

The ordinary man on the street HATES sharia law and its end result is that it actually drives muslims from islam.

I just finished reading, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. Outstanding book. It talks about some of the challenges of evangelizing to Muslims.

The rest of the world Hanifa designated Dar al-Harb or "the House of War."

So...religion of peace you say?

I first heard Mohammedanism eulogized by a Christian theologian in Fall of 1984, at a five-day Family Bible Conference, by the keynote speaker.

I already knew the real history of that tyrannical anti-Christian political system, and was deeply troubled. The man was not regarded as a “liberal” pastor, and he had served as a missionary in a Muslim-dominant country.

I was taught the truth about the Crusades in world history at a Christian School circa 1972 - and I watched what happened to Beirut later. That, coupled with actually studying the Bible, was all I needed to know.

I took that man’s characterization of Islam as a fellow religion that promoted the same moral values as Christendom, and his praise of Muslims as generally more devout and holy than American Christians, as a very bad sign.

Man, was I right.
