The argument goes: once you remove the procreative dimension of sex and sexuality, it is one big free for all. Why shouldn’t the sexual relationship between two men be blessed? If the capacity for life giving isn’t inherent and integrally defining of a women, what distinction is left between men and women biologically? If openness to children isn’t integral to the sexual relationship between a man and woman, then why bother with the institution of marriage at all?

The Refusal** to acknowledge the connection is a stain on the legacy of American Protestantism. Fact.
