That’s your first and primary mistake. You might as well claim you can become a competent doctor by reading enough medical books.

You're the one that quite mixed up...

2Ti 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 

That's the instruction in the Book...One may not become a very good doctor by just reading the medical book, but by here's what you get by reading God's book:

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
