wow....i hope you’re never at anyone’s death bed or a funeral.
+1
I hope you never lie.
So, what, you’re going to tell me that the CCC means the exact opposite of what it actually says?
I suppose you’re used to Roman Catholic doublethink, but the rest of us deal in actual TRUTH.
And the truth is that your catechism says that we have to earn our salvation by works. Doesn’t matter that it claims that God helps along; it’s the opposite of the EO belief, just like I said.
Shall I post more quotes or are you sick of being proven wrong?
Why?
24Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. John 5:24 NASB
I'm taking Him at His word.
As stated in post 26 and worth repeating, here’s Mary’s own statement regarding her need for a savior:
Like 1:46-47:
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
I can't help it if truth is obtuse to you. Don't try to twist a verse of scripture to mean that you know if someone else is saved because of something they said. You don't.
You either believe His promise or not.
But that's not what we were talking about. We were discussing whether a 3rd party is saved because of something he said. And since we don't know his heart, we don't know if he is saved.
24Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. John 5:24 NASB
But that's not the issue. Even though someone says they believe Him, do they really? Words alone aren't enough for you or me to know the salvation status of someone else. Only God knows what is in his heart.
Yes, context. And the context you set is not whether I believe His promise, but whether we can know someone else's salvation status based only on a single comment they utter. But we can't know. The Lord looks at the heart and knows, which we can't do.
The ELCA is an apostate social club that meets on Sundays and has no connection with the Truth. I care what they consider full communion about as much as I care what the Romans consider full communion. None have any bearing on my life or salvation.
No, I'm telling you what the Catechism actually says. Whether you understand it or not is up to you.
You didn't answer. Do you believe as the Orthodox:
"A person is justified by works and not by faith alone
Good grief.
You can’t even decide if a person has eternal life or not even though Scripture says one can know.
I take it you're not in full communion with them. That's the point I was making about someone else's claim regarding Protestants not deciding whether they are in communion with other churches or not. There are indeed Protestants who have closed communion. Another example, besides the ELCA, is the LCMS which is in fellowship with only certain synods.
Show me where Scripture says we can know the status of someone else's salvation based on a single thing the say when you don't know, and can't know, if they truly believe what they've said.
I'm sorry you think you know the salvation status of other people.
We're supposed to be living a life of belief in Yeshua (I.E. keeping the very same commandments he kept)
Are you a Christian who believes in the Holy Trinity?
You don’t even believe the basic promise of Christ when He says you can have eternal life. The concept of the Trinity is way beyond you.
