Were I a Christian, I might well find your argument persuasive.
Since Im not...not so much. Heck, many other Christians on this thread seem to disagree with you on this subject, so from the outside looking in there hardly seems to be a consensus on this.
Because it is an opportunity to reach kids with the gospel that would otherwise not be reached in the case of trunk or treats.
Not interested in who knows more. You very well could know more than me.
Just can’t get past the fact that the origin, nature and content of halloween is satanic.
I did have a strong sense you weren’t Christian and I considered it before sending the quote. The fact that a Simon was involved is why I decided to send it.
But that approach implies the Gospel isn’t strong enough without the witches and monsters of halloween.
If you condemn Halloween, how do you not also condemn the other holiday that began with non-christian beginning, is knowingly on the wrong date, has a lot of secular part to it... Yes, with your criteria... you cant do Christmas either.
Im certainly not trying to conceal it. Ive said as much when it was relevant in a few other threads.
As for my handle, it was (metaphorically) picked out of a hat.
A person choosing Simon as a forum name will have a new and different relationship with the name Simon.
My nephews went as a Ninji Turtle and Captain America.
Your mentality is like the old belief that rock and roll music is evil rather than something neutral that can be used for good.
Harry Potter books bother me more than Halloween. Halloween can simply be a fun time to dress up and get candy. I see a danger that children might find witchcraft appealing from the Potter books.
I dont follow you. What sort of relationship do you anticipate that Ill have the name that I picked at random?
Everything you say about the Harry Potter books applies logically to halloween as well.
As far as the alleged good that comes from halloween, its all myth. Neighbors dont get to know each other better. Nobody gets nostalgic about all the candy they ate years earlier.

As for the alleged good that comes from celebrating halloween, its all a myth.
Neighbors dont get to know each other better. Nobody reminisces nostalgically about all the candy they ate years ago.
Harry Potter said he would light my truck on fire if I didn't donate five dollars to Satan.
I see a big difference between a story that glorifies witchcraft and makes in appealing and dressing up like Batman or Hillary Clinton and getting some candy. The secularized version of Halloween is mere costume party.
Giving kids Bibles at a trunk and treat and convincing many to attend church is certainly a positive thing. But I'd consider it more of Halloween alternative.
Have a nice life.
But why even celebrate on that day, or on any day related to it?
Its like giving in, a total surrender. Like we lost our passion for our faith. Like being lukewarm.
From Revelation 3:
15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit[i] you out of My mouth.
And what about Christmas? Is that evil too? And the Easter Bunny?
Santa and his reindeer, santa comming down through the chimney and etc
Rabbits and eggs.
I guess most Christian movies are evil too, right?
Most of the movies i have saw about Jesus is far from the story i get from the scriptures.
But we don`t need to watch a movie to be deceived when there are plenty of deceivers in Church.
If it werent part of a religious belief system, people wouldnt get so emotional about it.
So many people today claim they are slaves for Christ but may only go to Church on Christmas or Easter or to a haloweeen party.
The early Christians, the ones on the day of Pentecost sold what they had and laid the money down at Peters feet, these were the Church , they gave their life to the preaching of Christs gospel.
But todays slaves of Christ will not even listen to the gospel unless they are lured with a candy bar or the promise of some fun.
Which brings to mind some words of Jesus.
Mathew 7;6
Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you.
Christs word is holy but if people loves man made tratitions
more that they do Christs gospel then it is their problem.
Because it is an opportunity to reach kids with the gospel that would otherwise not be reached in the case of trunk or treats
You can bribe kids with anything that costs a lot of money and some for little money you do not need halloween.
But any Church that would do this is not a church of God but a church of the devil.
