D-R Catholic Bible.
God does not use the word *idol*. In the Ten Commandments He says to not make an image and bow down/adore/worship to it or serve it.
The statues in and outside of Catholic churches that people kneel in front of and light candles to and pray to do qualify as images that are bowed down to, thus breaking the second commandment.
You can try to rationalize it away, justify it, excuse it, whatever, but bowing is bowing and images are images and the actions that Catholics engage in when they do that is a clear violation of the real second commandment, not the fake second commandment in your list.
The two are incompatible....you're either wholly devoted to Mary or you are wholly devoted to God.
The idolatry of Roman Catholicism is on full display when the two are examined.
This is but one example of Rome saying they don't do something only to be exposed by Roman Catholic beliefs.
These kind of examples are what the Roman Catholics often call "Catholic bashing".
Christianity calls it exposing Truth.
Consecration Prayer to Mary | Greatest Commandment from Matthew 22:37-38 NASB |
My Queen and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you; and to show my devotion to you, I consecrate to you this day my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Wherefore, good Mother, as I am your own, keep me, guard me, as your property and possession. Amen. |
37And He said to him, YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND. 38This is the great and foremost commandment. |
