In a new letter, the Pope Emeritus speaks of his declining strength but says he is surrounded by 'love and goodness'
The Pope Emeritus has written to an Italian newspaper to say he is on a pilgrimage Home in this final period of my life.
In a nine-line letter to Corriere della Serra, Benedict XVI thanks the papers readers for their concern, and assures them he is surrounded by a love and a goodness that I could not have imagined.
I was moved that so many readers of your newspaper want to know how I am spending this last period of my life, he said.
I can only say in this regard that, in the slow decline of physical strengths, inwardly I am on a pilgrimage Home, he added, capitalising the Italian word Casa.
It is a great grace for me to be surrounded, in this rather tiring last piece of the road, by a love and a goodness that I could not have imagined.

I cannot fathom why he left us when we needed him most. 2000 years of martyrs: St. Stephan stoned, St. Peter crucified, St. Paul beheaded....and he left us to Francis?
I think rather they’ve got him right where they want him as he seems so ready for the end.
If it’s really him writing.
Someday we will learn about the coup that took place to depose him.
Prayers up for the Holy Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, bless Thy servant Benedict, give him long years, and protect Thy holy Church.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
The Lavender (homosexual) Mafia drove him out. They control the Vatican.
That’s my thought on him as well. Did he lay down his cross?
