But as a Romam Catholic.....how do you know your understanding of Scripture is correct without the priest to tell you it is or isn't?

We've been told on these threads an individual cannot sit down and read the scriptures and understand them.

Yes we have been told that. I was told that, when I was in the OTC. Since there were only two priests in the parish, and hundreds of OTC members, it was impossible to get a priest to interpret for me. Maybe that was by design. I am not sure.
At any rate, when I got older, I became a totally rebellious dude, and I thought I am going to read the Bible, no matter what anyone says. Was I rebellious or what? 😆 I chose Heaven. I don’t know why, that when most people are told the truth, they reject it, and go about seeking to establish their own righteousness, thereby choosing Hell. Not good I would say, considering that all our wonderful works, are nothing but filthy rags in God’s sight. My wife’s family is a classic example. They have been told the truth, and every single, solitary one of them has rejected it. There is now, only a certain fearful looking for judgement. Does anyone actually think that God is going to let filthy rags into Heaven? It’s an IRONCLAD guarantee that He will not. So, anyone who thinks he can do good works to reach Heaven, is going to take the Lake of Fire plunge. It’s the ugly truth. 😁🇵🇭
