Moreover, scientific explanations fail to address well-documented NDE accounts in which experiencers: describe ER personnel and their conversations and actions while monitors showed clinical death; see obscure objects and details while in an out of body state; describe conversations with relatives who were not yet known to be dead and relate previously unknown information passed on to them; and are declared dead but then return to life without brain damage and may have new talents or unusual perceptive powers.
When such NDE accounts are proven and multiplied in number so as to become cumulatively persuasive, we move from the material realm of science to that of the spirit. Notably, due to the hints of reincarnation, traditional Christianity is also uncomfortable with NDEs, which fits most easily with the syncretism of New Age spiritualism.
Since scientific materialism and Christianity both have to revise fundamental tenets to accommodate NDEs as real, neither has embraced research into them with enthusiasm. Perhaps a billionaire will take up the subject and fund the necessary research.
Most people are uncomfortable with NDEs beacuse they are supernatural, and our souls are scarred with how to live in the world by soulish means.
Many from a Christian culture are similarly scarred, but the very meaning of Christianity is premised upon supernatural events and a way of thinking through faith in what He has provided us, which is very spiritual (quite supernatural).
So the trick is to discern the spirits.
BTW, modern psychiatry is premised by theories posed by original theorists who also followed Theosophy, which was from Madame Blavatsky a known Satanist. When discussing the spiritual realm, lots of modern psychiatry will attempt to throw false principles into the mix. Case in point is the ‘science’ of sleep paralysis.
Over the years I have read just about all of the scientific research on NDE’s and have discussed it with the authors, except Ian Stevenson who had died so I discussed it with his assistant and peers.
I’ve discussed the topic with Raymond Moody, Gary Schwartz, Jim Tucker, Bruce Greyson and many more.
I’ve discussed the personal NDE experiences with Eban Alexander, Dr Mary Neal, Anita Morjani, PMH Atwater and many other experiencers.
The only reason I have not written a book is that the public exposure and limelight is poison to the wonderful spiritual connection with God I have continued to experience ever since my own death.
“Since scientific materialism and Christianity both have to revise fundamental tenets to accommodate NDEs as real, neither has embraced research into them with enthusiasm.”
First, allow me to say that Christianity, consciousness, spirituality is all material. Just not to the limited perceptions of most people.
The human soul and the stored memories of life experiences since conception...are all physical to my perceptions.
I feel sin in a person’s soul just as you would feel a tree in your path when walking.
[[but are not fully testable. ]]
Several common experiences are testable- such as the brain not getting enough blood and oxygen and a person’s peripheral vision loss and tunnel like white light before they go completely unconscious-
[[relate previously unknown information passed on to them;]]
We don’t know that they had never heard that info- they could have heard that info as infants or children, and had it stored away and when the NDE happened new pathways in the brain are opened up and stored info becomes available again- the brain ‘locks away’ certain info in normal brains- certain drugs, and NDE’s as shown in mri’s reconnect those pathways in certain circumstances- hence the ‘life flashing before our eyes’ syndrome-
As for ‘cli9nical death’ there is a state where a person is ‘clinically dead’ yet not ‘fully dead yet’ if that makes sense- many folks have ‘come back from clinical death’- which suggests that even when machines don’t register a ‘spark of life’ one still exists- God alone determines when to snuff that spark of life completely
I’m not suggesting scientific explanations and test results show there is no spiritual aspect to all this- however, some of them ore common experiences can be explained by science-
“Notably, due to the hints of reincarnation”....
“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.” Matthew 11:13-14
Was John reincarnated? How could he be since Elijah was taken up alive into heaven.
