Luke 11:27-28 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

27 And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps that gave thee suck.
28 But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.

This is the passage that puts it all in perspective. A woman in the crowd tries to shift the focus from Jesus and His teaching to Mary. Jesus shuts that maneuver down in no time flat.

There is a message in this incident for any and all who choose to heed it. Take the focus off Mary and put it squarely on Jesus and His teaching. Hear His words and observe them. That is what we’re told in no uncertain terms to do.

Jesus honored His Mother at the wedding at Cana and fulfilled her request with His first miracle.

Also, some His last words from the crucifix were:

[26] When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. [27] After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own. John 19
