The Bible shows that the Church in her pastors teaches with the authority of the Holy Spirit. That is enough. But of course if you don’t actually believe in the Bible
To: Petrosius
Like what traditions?
Give us an example of *Protestant* tradition that non-Catholics follow that are on equal basis with Scripture as the RCC *sacred tradition* is.

[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. [32] This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church. " [Ephesians Chapter 5]Or did Luther toss that book too?

LOL!! WHAT Church do you belong to....you are such a HYPOCRITE you will just answer Christian, but that;s not how it works, bud...there are SECTS of Christianity....but you dont belong to ANY of them....too pure, I guess or too cheap to GIVE to a CHURCH.And again the Roman Catholic is the first to use profanity or get personal when the argument goes against them.
I'd be willing say I give more than the typical Roman Catholic based on surveys of people giving to their church.
To: Ann Archy; ealgeone
ealgeone doesn’t NEED to belong to a church.
He belongs to JESUS and that is all anyone needs.
FWIW, I don’t belong to a church.

All sins are indeed forgiven by baptism. But what of sins committed afterwards? There is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood.
Dunking someone in water or pouring it on them does NOT remove sin from the spirit.
Water is not the right medium to apply to sin for the forgiveness of it.

As a Lutheran I do not follow Luther or Paul. I follow Christ.

Why would anyone want to *swim the Tiber* when this is an example of what Catholics behave like?
You are aware, aren't you, that you can give to a church without belonging to it?
And besides, what do you know about ealgeone's giving habits?
You're making quite the presumption and treating it as truth with no basis whatsoever.

These flame bait threads attacking the Reformation are being posted on a daily basis. I’m sure it will get worse this fall. There are those that cannot stand the thought that their errors have been exposed and corrected and the Reformation has lasted 500 years. Their loss but we should avoid being drawn into the same tired old tactics. All these threads are designed to do is provoke argument so those that started it can run to mommy and daddy to get the big bad Christians banned. I for one am done playing

omg...The Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE CHURCH and you ALL know it, you just dont like the RULES!! Legalism gets no one to heaven.
And if the rules were God's commands, that would be one thing.
They aren't.
So why would someone want to put themselves under the authority of a bunch of useless rules and regulations?

Roman Catholics continue to delude themselves in thinking Christians follow Luther.
To: metmom
Give us an example of *Protestant* tradition that non-Catholics follow that are on equal basis with Scripture as the RCC *sacred tradition* is.That's the problem. Protestants don't follow any traditions. That why there are so many sects of protestants that disagree on birth control, abortion, homosexual marriage, divorce, etc. Name me one protestant sect that condoned homosexual marriage or abortion 100 years ago.
That is what this article is about Jorge Bergolio is a protestant, not a Catholic.

Could you show us where the words *Roman Catholic church* are found in the Bible?
Then you might be able to prove that the RCC is the OTC.

Faith alone, Scripture alone.
To: ebb tide; Petrosius
That's the problem. Protestants don't follow any traditions. Do we or don't we?
I guess it depends some on which Catholic we are talking to.

You should probably notice that this thread was about a Catholic topic. It was when Protestants entered to attack Catholic beliefs that the Catholics rose up to defend themselves.
