Not wanting to be argumentative.

Isn't committing a sin turning our back on God?

I'm talking about a person who says they're a believer in Christ in this discussion.

I agree the believer has an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ.

When conviction of a believer doesn’t result in repentance, but defiance, then I would call that turning one’s back on God.
