2 Tm 3:16 is particularly interesting. 2 Timothy specifies several things that Timothy has to keep him faithful in his office as episcopos (bishop):
Granted, neither use the term "Bible". However, the Bible is what we call the collection of Scriptures. Substitute Scripture if that makes you happy in the phrase above.
In either case the sufficiency of the Scriptures to lead us to a relationship with Christ is more than attested to. < Do we have the Holy Spirit to guide us? Yes. All believers have this.
Do we all have benefit of Paul's teaching? No we don't. There is no collection of Paul's teachings, other than the writings in Scripture, available to us.
At the time 2 Tim 3 was being written the sacred writings Paul notes would have been the OT.
I don't think the Catholic wants to negate principle of reliance upon God's written word for the knowledge of how to have a relationship with Him.
It seems the Catholic is looking for the phrase, "use the Bible only"...or rather is not wanting it to be there to justify their use of uninspired "tradition".
If read in context the Bible is clear we are to rely upon the written word as the final authority of truth.
And please, let's not go down the road of does the Bible contain all history, math, etc. That sounds like a Tim Staples attempt at apologetics and fails at every level.
