In broad terms, they're Protestants, period.

I disagree ... I don’t think those are “mainline” Catholics. The “mainliners” are the ones sitting uncomfortably in the pews waiting for this “progressive” wave to pass and fail. I bet the church will eventually respond just as the US has ... enough will be enough, pope or no pope ... people don’t want their church or their country changed and will eventually take control of it.

Yet if you look at the numbers, Evangelicals more closely follow the tenants of the NT church than any other group. Roman Catholics differ very little from “mainstream” America on the majority of the issues. Whatever y’all are selling in the RCC isn’t being bought by your own folks. That might also explain why Roman Catholicism is losing ground in Latin America.

My church has been hijacked by a secular liberal pope. He is not my spiritual leader just as Obama was not my political leader. There will be a schism at some point because Bergoglio will persist in destroying the Church in favor of his anti-Western and anti-Christian ideals. There are plenty of faithful parish priests and laity, but every liberal bishop and cardinal appointed by Bergoglio creates lasting damage. It’s the price that the Catholic Church is paying for ignoring generations of heresy and misconduct by sizable minority of priests. Bergoglio has a large pool of fellow travelers that he can appoint to positions of power.
