This is a case of misrepresenting Catholics because Catholics do NOT miss the metaphor. There is metaphor AND literal meaning simultaneously in some cases.

Except that you can't just jump between deciding what is which based on preference all within the same passage.

That is incorrect Bible interpretation and gives rise to false doctrine.

Now the Catholic demand that the flesh and blood be literal violates the rest of Scripture while the non-Catholic recognition of it as being a metaphor, like so much of His other teaching, does not.

So the consistency of Scripture with itself strengthens the non-Catholic interpretation and weakens the Catholic one.

IOW, consistency in interpretation and no violation of God's character or commands as Catholicism sets up.

And of course, it's just mighty convenient that the Catholic church demands literal eating and drinking of flesh and blood and they just happen to be the only ones who are qualified or authorized to perform the conversion.

Way to set up a monopoly and force compliance under threat of eternal damnation.

Because catholiciism conflates John 6 with the Last Supper the adherents are lost to see what the differences are. It is impossible for a lost soul who believes he/she must eat the real body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus for maintaining a saved position before God to see what the Jewish Wedding is about and why Jesus went on in John 14 to expound His Church as a bride for Whom He will return. The catholic mind is so twisted it is impossible for it to comprehend Truth when presented to it. we see it daily on these threads.
