the prosperity gospel, also known as the health and wealth or name it and claim it gospel, treats God as Amazon.com. It falsely teaches you will always be healthy and wealthy...all you have to do is ask. If you're not, then you're not truly believing...you faith is weak.
that's not in accordance with the NT.
Roman Catholicism has its own version of this through the "Fifteen Rosary Promises".
“...the prosperity gospel, also known as the health and wealth or name it and claim it gospel, treats God as Amazon.com. It falsely teaches you will always be healthy and wealthy...all you have to do is ask. If you’re not, then you’re not truly believing...you faith is weak...”
Right.
And most protestants seem to have their own version of the prosperity gospel in that they seem to think that if they feel guilty or unconfident in God’s forgiveness, that they just don’t have enough faith in Jesus.
Well the true gospel isn’t that simple, as it requires one to examine his conscience and the deeds of his life and REPENT of the sin he may find, receiving the grace of Jesus’ saving work, and resolving to sin no more with true purpose of ammendment.
If he fall again he again must REPENT of the sin, not just of unbelief, but of SIN.
I hear a lot more about this part of the gospel in the Catholic Church than I do in the protestant dialog.
That is a RED FLAG.
The people who claim all you need is to believe in Jesus often hang their hope on that simple phrase, without asking what does it truly mean to believe in Jesus.
Why do you think there are four Gospels? Jesus said a lot more than “Believe on Me.” It behooves one to frequently test one’s life against EVERY WORD of Jesus, not just the one that appears to many as a vending machine. Pop in your “faith in Jesus” and out comes a ticket to heaven?
