If there ever has been a time in history that Christians should realize and act on the simple truth that we have something very important in common (that would be love for Christ), this is the time.
Discussion of our differing beliefs is healthy and good among Christians, but treating each other with anything less than love goes against Christ’s demand that we love one another.
There are those today who are making great progress toward destroying Christianity, one Christian at a time.
As a Catholic, I will defend Protestant Christians, but I believe that there are Protestants who will not defend me.
I agree. The difference in discussion is that I don’t even open a thread for protestants, while there are a crowd of protestants just waiting to comment on every Catholic thread.
It gets old.
Like the statement ‘Jesus wasn’t Catholic’
He sure wasn’t protestant, since they didn’t exist till 1500 years after his crucifixion!
That may be your position, but there are a good number of catholics on these threads that would be glad to see the Inquisition brought back.
If anyone is a follower of Jesus and Him alone, I will defend them.
I will defend you and have defended other Catholics in these forums.
“...As a Catholic, I will defend Protestant Christians, but I believe that there are Protestants who will not defend me.”
That’s quite a vague statement. Can you clarify how you will defend Protestants? Against what?
Will you as a Catholic attack heresy? Or is it not loving for a doctor to tell a patient they are too fat and need to cut down on carbohydrates, cigarettes, and need to exersize more?
So what? That's on them if they don't.
Do you think that means NO Protestants will defend Catholics then?
There are some Catholics who will not defend a Protestant.
So we're even.
That presumes that both are Christians, and which must be defined in the light of where we read of that name first being used. (Acts 11:26) And in which we see that Catholicism is a false church with some true teachings, (versus a true church with some false teachings), and thus relative few are Christian. And Christ also come to bring division, which enables unity, and evangelicals are yet more unified than Caths in basic beliefs, thank God, but not enough. .
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (Matthew 10:34-35)
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)
