...If the Church were to change its rules on shared Eucharistic Communion it would go against Revelation and the Magisterium, leading Christians to commit blasphemy and sacrilege, an Italian theologian has warned.
Drawing on the Churchs teaching based on Sacred Scripture and Tradition, Msgr. Nicola Bux, a former consulter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, stressed that non-Catholic Christians must have undertaken baptism and confirmation in the Catholic Church, and repented of grave sin through sacramental confession, in order to be able to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
Msgr. Bux was responding to the Register about concerns that elements of the current pontificate might be sympathetic of a form of open Communion proposed by the German Protestant theologian, Jürgen Moltmann.
The concerns have arisen primarily due to the Holy Fathers own comments on Holy Communion and Lutherans, his apparent support for some remarried divorcees to receive Holy Communion, and how others have used his frequently repeated maxim about the Eucharist: that it is not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.
The debate specifically over intercommunion with Christian denominations follows recent remarks by Cardinal Walter Kasper who, in a Dec. 10 interview with Avvenire, said he hopes Pope Francis next declaration will open the way for intercommunion with other denominations in special cases.
The German theologian said shared Eucharistic communion is just a matter of time, and that the Popes recent participation in the Reformation commemoration in Lund has given a new thrust to the ecumenical process.
Pope Francis has often expressed his admiration for Cardinal Kaspers theology whose thinking has significantly influenced the priorities of this pontificate, particularly on the Eucharist.
For Moltmann, Holy Communion is the Lord's supper, not something organized by a church or a denomination...

pax_et_bonum:
Protestants are my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Repent and Believe:
So you are united to protesters? But the very term, Protestant necessarily means protester. Yet you claim that you are not a protester (one who argues) because that sows more anger and discord than understanding.
Then why do you argue with the Catholic Church by so saying, for the Catholic Church teaches that Protestants are not in Christ. You can look it up from the mouth of Popes prior to 1959, as they argued against the Protestants being our brothers and sistes.
(That hails back to post number 19 where is presented the idea that the Vatican II Church is at war with the true Catholic Church.)
Now you dont dare argue with me or you will be doing what you said you are opposed to doing!
pax_et_bonum:
Im not going to argue with you.
Peace be with you.
Repent and Believe:
Great. Your protesting has cease.
Your quote: Also note that even people who call themselves Catholic these days really arent. That is because 50 years ago a council was held where apostates left the Catholic faith as they created new dogmas that are at odds with the faith of Jesus Christ,
One of the hallmarks of a cult is thinking you alone have the true understanding of your belief...
You basically said 100's millions of Catholics are wrong and you are right...
Which sect of the Catholic church aligns with your belief ?
Oh' Wait the CC has sects ? How can that be ?
Yer so funny...... have a great day.
“And your pope tells us that one doesn’t even have to believe in Jesus to become a Catholic...”
Not true.
By the way, I’m not sure if you have seen post #19 which may modify your perception, as my Pope is the last known to be living, which is Pope Pius XII, along with his predecessors, who all proclaimed that you must believe in Jesus and be baptized for you and all of your household (as in baptized children) to be saved, and that as a baptized person who has reached the age of reason, must maintain belief in Jesus in order to be saved, and that an unbaptized person who has reached the age of reason must believe in Jesus to be baptized.

Popman: “One of the hallmarks of a cult is thinking you alone have the true understanding of your belief...”
RB (RepentandBelieve):
And what is to be said of a person who’s claim is true?
By your insinuation you promote a dangerous heresy which is the erroneous belief that there is no one who has the true understanding of their belief. And yes, millions upon millions ascribe to that lie of the Devil.
Besides, it is not I alone who hold the position, it is the entire Catholic Church, most prominently as visible prior to A.D. 1959 that is in union with these beliefs, as well as a modern day minority of Catholics, and the declared saints up to A.D. 1959 to which I cling. Do you count all these for no one else but RB?
Popman: “You basically said 100’s millions of Catholics are wrong and you are right...”
RB:
Wrong.
I said that the people who THINK they are Catholic (referring to Post 19) aren’t, so no, there are NOT divided sects within Catholicism, which was largely the point of Post 19:
http://freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3509997/posts?page=19#19
Thus as seen in Post 19, much like the Protestants, but more slyly, the Vatican II “Catholics” broke away from the Catholic Church (The Great Apostacy), even though they will deny it.
All Jerome did was copy the 'OLD' Latin texts and make changes where it suited him and the new Catholic religion...
The God given bible/scriptures were written, published, read, preached, heard and believed by countless thousands of Christians thru out that part of the world for hundreds of years before your Catholic religion and it's 'new' bible were ever heard of...
I remember Some DingDong Bishop gave Bill Clinton approval
To Receive Communion.......
Saint Jerome changed nothing.
Most of Martin Luther’s protestations are not even to be found in the historical Church until he came along, and led by Satan he opened fire upon the sacred.
Many other dissemblers have piled on since.
You need to read The Caon of Scripture by Bruce Metzger.
“However, some catholics believe: O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of Mercy...”
There once were two brothers: one who loved to practice art with paper while the other aspired to carve figurines and other useful objects. Each received a present for Christmas along their passions, the first received a pair of scissors, while the other a carving knife. The brother who loved to carve was a peaceful fellow while the one who liked to cut things out of paper was a sort of brute.
The following year the two brothers received another gift but the same gift as the other brother, however, from their father. He knew they had both been wanted a pet lamb and both had been asking him relentlessly nearly all year long for one.
So their father obtained two young lambs from a local farmer and carefully placed them in their respective boxes with special ventilation holes, just before gift opening time on Christmas morning, after feeding them each a special grass that helps them feel sleepy. The two lambs had been rescued from being attacked by coyotes just after birth, but had been nursed to health by then.
Before the final touches on the gift wrapping, their mother wrote on the wrapping paper warning to be gentle, and that the contents were fragile.
Well when the two brothers saw the boxes, they both knew what was inside, and could hardly contain their excitement.
The brother who liked to make art with scissors, however, hurried to his prize and in his excitement grabbed the knife from his brothers hands and sliced through the paper and box and tore the paper throwing shreds aside, and in fact inflicted a fresh cut upon the poor little lamb inside!
The second brother, having lost his knife in the travesty, picked up his brothers scissors to open his package, and in his excitement, he exclaimed, The present that I longed for and have for so long wanted to love!
He held and caressed the box and looked up at his parents with gratitude. He looked closely at the paper, savoring every moment of this event. He then noticed the warnings and cautions which his mother had written on the wrapping paper, and proceeded to open the gift.
He then knew that he wanted to treasure this moment the rest of his life in every degree possible, including saving the very wrapping paper and box.
So he held the scissors gently and cut each piece of tape holding the paper on and unwrapped the gift slowly and carefully until he had the happy lamb sitting content upon his lap. At the days end he gathered the paper up and folded it neatly and put it and the box in safekeeping.
Which of the two brothers, do you think, received their respective gift lamb more properly and had a trusting lamb as a companion?
That made zero sense. Is this another Catholic attempt at defending the worship of Mary?
GE is both, and Jesus was a Jew.
Now that's funny...
Who has the burden of proof here? That is, can you or anyone prove Christ did NOT leave us the glorious gift of the Eucharist? Why would He NOT leave this with his children?
Will you say something like “because it doesn’t make objective sense”? That would be an interesting answer.
Will you say “because it’s not in the Bible”? Well, it is in the Bible (see John 6, the Last Supprr narratives, Corinthians, etc.), but not for people who don’t read it literally.
He did...do this in remembrance of Me.
However, it is not a re-sacrifice of Christ where the priest summons Him down from Heaven again and again and again and again.
Peter accurately noted: 68Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. 69We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God. John 6:68-69
He recognized it was through belief that one acquires Christ.
Note he did not say, Lord we have eaten your flesh and drunk your blood. No. He noted they believed in Him.
That understanding is in context with what John has been writing throughout his gospel.
It is what the Gospels record.
It is what Paul records.
One believes in Jesus for salvation.
We probably won’t sway one another here. But here’s the position that has not been refuted.
Catholics for centuries understand from John 6 (for one) that the Eucharist is God’s gift of Heaven to us, one of the personal ways we receive Jesus while we are on this earth. And where Jesus is, so is God and the Holy Spirit (He cannot be divided). And since God is in Heaven, we receive Heaven. This is how God figured out to give us Heaven in a very personal way.
In John 6, why doesn’t Jesus stop and explain to his followers, who are now leaving him, that he’s only being “symbolic”, here?...
Jesus said to them, Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat [Greek = munch, gnaw on] the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
54
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
57
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
58
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.
59
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
The Words of Eternal Life.
60
Then many of his disciples who were listening said, This saying is hard; who can accept it?
61
Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, Does this shock you?
62
What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
63
It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh* is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
64
But there are some of you who do not believe. Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.
65
And he said, For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.
66
As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.
