I’m just commenting on the fact that end times prognosticators were almost all in agreement that a generation was 40 years, until 1988 rolled around and their prognostications failed to come true. Then they either decided a generation must be 70 years, or they needed to start the 40 year count from 1967.

When they are all wrong in 2017/2018, I expect them all to agree that a generation must be 70 years AND the counting must start in 1967, and that will give them until 2037 to make more bad predictions.

I've seen this as well.

Psalm 90:10 says, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."

In Matt. 24, Yeshua went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

[Later,] "as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Notice the disciples asked three questions: 1. "When will these things be" (IMO, destruction of the temple). 2. "What will be the sign of Your coming" (i.e., second coming). 3. [Signs] "of the end of the age?" (i.e., end of the world).

These are three individual events often confused as one. However, as often seen in prophesy, and in its fulfillment, duality/shadow events occur. Yeshua's statement in Matt 24:34, "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.", could have/can be used in determining the timing of any of these three events the disciples asked Him about.

For instance, the generation alive at the time of Yeshua's first coming did see the destruction of the temple, aprox. 40 years later - within the 70 year lifespan given in Palsm 90:10.

Secondly, if like some, you use the establishment of the state of Israel to start your 70 year clock, we have until 2018. Some start the clock when Jerusalem was recaptured, and that puts the time out to about what you've mentioned.

Personally, I look at all the indicators I can find, both scriptural and worldly. And there are many signs from both pointing to this being epochal times.
