And I ask myself: Why so much rigidity? Dig, dig, this rigidity always hides something, insecurity or even something else. Rigidity is defensive. True love is not rigid.
Just curious. No debate intended.
Why so much rigidity in those who oppose those have a love for tradition?
He just wants everyone to do as he says. The church is ALL about rigidity. Geez...
> That is just untrue. It has never been so.
E.g. We've always have Mass in Aramaic/Syriac In Beirut.
Not 5 minutes ago I was thinking how hard, often and fervently I prayed over the election and it is time to double down on our prayer for our, One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church.
Why does the Catholic church use the Bible for scriptures?
Such rigidity.
Why can’t they use the Koran, or Marvel Comics or maybe Penthouse magazine?
In many ways, Pope Francis reminds me of the ruling elite who were just b!tch-slapped by the Brexit and US voters.
If he really wanted to know what motivates these young people who prefer the Traditional Latin Mass, he could simply call a meeting and talk to them.
As I said, it’s just an inquiry. I’m not debating the topic as it’s a caucus thread.
I'd like to ask His Holiness the same question. Why the rigid opposition to tradition and those who love it? Why the daily judgmentalism and invective directed at faithful Catholics? Why doesn't "Who am I to judge?" apply to those who love the TLM? What is he afraid of?
You nailed it, just like Lucifer, Adam and Eve countless people through the ages, some want to BE God not worship him.
Indeed.
In authorizing regular use of the older Mass, now referred to as the extraordinary form, now-retired Pope Benedict XVI was "magnanimous" toward those attached to the old liturgy, he said. But it is an exception.Thank you. Papa Francisco. Now try this one on for size:
In authorizing regular use of laity at communion, known as 'extraordinary ministers,' the Church was being magnanimous. But they are an exception.
Bergoglio says Benedict was “magnanimous” in “allowing” the celebration of the old Mass.
Baloney. As Benedict made clear, the old Mass was “never abrogated” and its celebration was NEVER FORBIDDEN.
It’s a foolish CEO who trashes his best customers. Imagine the Chairman of General Motors lamenting the rigidity of a hardcore group of buyers who persistently choose V8 Camaros.
Latin is (supposed to be) the universal language of the Catholic Church - with Latin it is possible to attend Mass anywhere in the world (with the probable exception of the local language for the Homily) and not have to worry about disenfranchisement due to a language barrier.
The Mass was in Latin, in the first place, because everybody spoke Latin. It remained in Latin because the AUTHENTIC Catholic attitude in matters of liturgy is to resist change tooth and nail.
What a remarkably ungracious and uncompassionate statement from the Pope of mercy, assuming bad motivations on the part of other people and belittling the glorious liturgical tradition of the western church that fed the spirituality countless saints over the centuries! Sheesh. Where is simple human decency and tolerance for legitimate aspirations of others?
More solemn, increases culture, preserves traditions, and is the same wherever you go in the world.
Thank you for your answer.
