Your post brings up the question as to whether the Byzantine/Majority Textform is to be preferred as God's Word, or the "critical" "eclectic" Tischendorf/Westcott & Hort text synthesized basically from three corrupted, older-manuscript (allowed to lie neglected) texts, and never seen by the human eye before about 1880?

I know which I choose.

And regarding the election coming up? God knows what the result is going to be, one which may not please Him, but will be exactly what we as a nation deserve for our rejection of Him and His Son as our Guide and Light.

Your prayers had better be directed toward how you will react to the result that is already Providentially determined.

I’m not sure about your 1880 date, but the Bible interprets itself and the Greek for “fasting” here is as a religious exercise, not just abstaining from food for the physical benefits of fasting.

Jesus was himself fasting for forty days in the desert, when He had victory over Satan; so this is most likely why He was emphatic that “this kind (of satanic entity) comes out only by prayer and fasting”...

It is all in the same way He pulled down “strongholds” or lies and accusations of Satan’s misuse of scripture in the temptation in the desert.
