Of course G-d preserved His word--but a translation.

A copy of the Torah, just as it was written by Moses at G-d's dictation, is in every ark in every synagogue in the world.

A translation of the Bible is not the Bible.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you wanted our favorite KJV verses, not just our favorite verses.

Myself, my bible version is the NIV. My first parallel version is NKJV. My third is KJV.

I use https://www.biblegateway.com/ for study and I use many of the versions. Sometimes I will search and compare almost ALL of them.

(Proverbs 3:5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

(Proverbs 25:2) It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

“The KJV is NOT EVEN THE WHOLE BIBLE!”

I am guessing that you are referring to the Catholic bible with those “extra” books”.

Let me relate a true story.

When I was still a “new” Christian, ( I was saved later in life), My wife brought home an old (Catholic) bible she found at a yard sale.

I was thrilled. Not knowing a Catholic bible from any other, I was surprised to find additional books in this bible.

I immediately turned to one of those books anticipating new revelations that I was previously unaware of.

I was truly excited to discover new truths!

As I read on, I began to discern that the words in this book didn’t “fit” with all the other scripture I had read. I was feeling that it was not consistent with other scripture. It was like it was written by someone else. Like it was UNINSPIRED.

I believe the Holy Spirit revealed to me that those scriptures were NOT the word of God. I disposed of that bible.

Remember, I was predisposed to accept these new books as gospel. I had no previous knowledge that a Catholic bible was any different from other bibles, and was excited to read these, previously unknown to me, scriptures.

Say what you will, I believe this was an epiphany, if you will, a revelation, a spiritual moment, a religious experience.

Sal, you are looking for an argument, but this is posted as “Worship” and your words are disrupting the tenor of exchange the author of this thread desired to establish. Butt out if you do not want to post an uplifting thought from the pages of the Crown-Authorized Version of the English Bible.

<\i>. . . I was surprised to find additional books in this bible.

The additional books you found over and above the sixty-six books of the approved Canon of inspired Scripture are the Deutorocanon, the "Second Canon" that the church fathers determined to be not inspired, but somewhat useful for history and other tales of pious people. In fact, this Deuterocanon was included in most King James Bibles until about the twentieth century. At that time, the English Revised Version was published, and was the first real competition the KJV had for buyers.

I have the opinion that the reason the Deuterocanonical books were deleted was because they added cost to the printing of the Bible, and because they were not read or used much/ They were not books upon which one would build doctrine. So prints of the Authorised Version ("King James Bible") do not include these uninspired books anymore.

The entirety of I Corinthians 15.

Amen! It's my favorite chapter in the Word of GOD. In fact I have an original 1611 leaf with most of I Corinthians on it.

That one chapter contains more soaring, inspirational words, and phrases that have entered the popular lexicon, than any chapter of any book I can think of, sacred or secular. It also rather plainly and logically spells out the plan of Salvation.

Rom_8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

The King James Version has it translated and phrased just a little differently, adhering a bit closer to the grammar of the Greek:

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28 AV)/

In the AV, "called" is an adjective as it is in the Greek, meaning "the called (ones)"; not as a verb in the version quoted. Also, in the Greek "them" is in the dative case, meaning "to them." Just a couple of minor points.

Do not LET the devil devour you. Be STRONG in your faith and the devil can not devour you.

This is a great encouragement. If I feel an attack coming on, I just remember what Jams said:

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (Jas. 4:7 AV)

This has always been one of my go-to passages whenever I face doubts, problems, fears, troubles, etc.:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. (Psalm 91:1-6)

This is also a tremendous comfort for me and the Lord brought it to my heart one late, dark night when we were sailing hundreds of miles from land and I was gripped with the thought that we could go down in the unfathomable depths and no one would ever know we were there. The poetry of the KJV is beautiful:

O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.  Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.  Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.  Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.  Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;  Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. (Psalm 139:1-10)

Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

I wish I had a search engine with ORIGINAL KJV verses. All the ones I find claim to be King James but they never are the original.
