Yes. Leonard first saw the hand shape that evolved into the Vulcan Hand Salute during the Rosh Hashana Services in Temple Mishkin T’Fillah in Dorchester MA, when he was a child. It is the Priestly Blessing from Numbers 6:

Father God, just as you lead us to be Your servants, please install leadership in this nation that desires to serve You. As a nation, may we give up our wickedness, repent and seek to serve You. If it is Your will, may there be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon this land. Without You, we are nothing.
