The name does not matter and your forgetting it is a very good indication of your pure intentions for your friend.

Don’t give satan power by looking for devils all the time, learning their names, or reading about anything demonic. That is like an invitation, a call satan loves to hear.

If your friend is a daily mass-goer, he/she is already on a wise path. Someone so devout probably knows to have a blessed crucifix in the home and some image of our Blessed Mother. Our gazing upon them is just as valuable as their protection!

Wearing a blessed miraculous medal also helps. Not only as a shield against evil, but as a way to move our awareness to sanctity and purity within us. Offer that good part to God and let go of any struggle with a demon, as that gives the demon power.

All grace is God given. Your friend may have some preoccupation or worry about the sexual demon. That demon has no power over your friend. The grace is there, from God. The holy symbols are there, the crucifix, etc.

These blessed symbols are not magical, they are more powerful than that. They reinforce our inner holy walk with God. We do sin, but we belong to Christ. If we turn right back to Christ, to the Eucharist, to Mary our Mother, to a patron saint, even when we feel distant and ashamed, we are loving them in our broken way.

Don’t focus on a demon or on the sin, for that shoves God out of his primary place in our hearts. To love God is to trust God, which means trusting we are forgiven too. Prayer can be woven thru our lives, but should not be an obsession. Don’t give evil any claim by becoming fascinated and praying all the time to avoid it. That’s short-changing God.

When prayer crosses a line to constant berating of ourselves, worrying and feeling guilty and constantly explaining ourselves to God, that is a reverse-pride. It’s a big mistake. It’s wallowing in how rotten and bad we are. Ah, that is an opening for the devil! We are focusing on that Loser instead of the Almighty. Beauty, grace, power, majesty, love and mercy! Ours by baptism, ours by faith! Re-affirmed daily in the Blessed Sacrament! Don’t shirk this glory to cringe in fear over temptations.

As you know with your name Fatima, there are thousands of lovely and diverse prayers we can say or keep on holy cards to uplift our minds to God. Not only to avoid temptation, but for thanksgiving, other people, causes, the Church, etc.

Sometimes when temptation comes, the best thing is to cross ourselves, say “Jesus I trust in thee” or ponder a holy image. Then immediately go for a walk, toss in the laundry, call a friend, etc. That way we place ourselves in God’s care, fully trusting in HIS strength, not our own. And our return to normal routine indicates to God and to our own psyche that we do trust him to help us get through.
