but very quiet on his words on mary as ever virgin

That isn’t Lutheran doctrine.

They are very quiet on his words. The belief is not addressed in the Augsburg Confession or the Large Confession. It is mentioned in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod’s Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord in Part VIII, The Person of Christ.

24] On account of this personal union and communion of the natures, Mary, the most blesses Virgin, bore not a mere man, but, as the angel [Gabriel] testifies, such a man as is truly the Son of the most high God, who showed His divine majesty even in His mother’s womb, inasmuch as He was born of a virgin, with her virginity inviolate. Therefore she is truly the mother of God, and nevertheless remained a virgin.

This as you can see refers to the virginity of Mary as it relates to Christ's birth, not going forward. Matt 1:25.

Is not the Catholic position that Mary remained a virgin for life? That is not scriptural. The Lutheran perspective is that the focus of God's plan, the Bible, everything is about Jesus Christ. The position you posted is from a Solid Declaration on Christ, not His mother. We confess the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds, they and the Bible acknowledge the Virgin birth..

Catholics Mariology ascribes more to the faithful Mary than what is written.
