You know, when I was a little kid I remember lying on the grass looking up to the sky and wondering, where does the sky stop? What's after that? A wall? How thick is the wall? What's after the wall? The problem we have as finite creatures is our inability to comprehend the truly infinite. We can use big words, come up with all kinds of scientific terms and phrases, wax philosophical and ponder how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, but eventually we must sit back in awe and wonderment at how vast and unfathomable our universe really is.

The ONE who created all that is out of "nothing" has chosen to tell us some of the infinite things and we receive it by faith every bit as much as we receive the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins. Jesus' disciple begged Him to tell them of such things and He told them, "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?" (John 3:12).

Though it may be entertaining to get into deep discussions over deep subjects, we must realize that it will all make sense once we step into eternity - then we will know as we are known. I can't wait!

I know. I love astronomy. To look up at a star filled night just inspires awe and wonder.

It is very humbling to think that God said and there was what He had commanded to come into existence....all by His spoken word. Ex nihilo.

It baffles scientists and philosophers to this day that He did this in six 24 hour days. Of course, He could have done this in six seconds or whatever measure of time one chooses.

I tell people, if He couldn't create the world as noted in Genesis, then He is not God.

That He did is awe inspiring.

I love to ask these groups two questions:

1) how does something come from nothing?

2) how does life come from lifelessness?

When people start the how many angels can fit on a pin discussion it reminds me of a George Carlin routine. Somtimes I think that is where some get their philosophy/religion from!
