I have lots of “friends” like that.

They’ve never helped.

On the contrary, it’s only added to the feelings of guilt and condemnation I used to deal with. Now that alone tells you which side they are on.

Someone from God, speaking for Him would not heap guilt and condemnation on a person who’s already suffering.

Congratulations to you on your new status as Pharisees. I'll bet you didn't know you had it in ya. 😀😄😂😊😎😆

Just wait until you're a Pharisee AND a Net Pope. Man...then you've got it good!

Satan wants us to doubt. That leads to working for salvation. That leads to the pit. The people pushing the carnal minded prosperity gospel are working for satan, whether they even know it or not. Doubting God’s Promise to put His spark of the Holy Spirit in us when we are born from above is an insult to what Jesus did on the Cross. Trying to teach people that God is obliged to heal you, prosper you, keep you from harm, etc. is designed to raise doubt and thus insult God. It is Magic Thinking of the worst sort. I don’t think we’ll be meeting them in the clouds, Bro!

Satan wants us to doubt. That leads to working for salvation. That leads to the pit.

And all this blame shifting onto the afflicted person holding them responsible for their lack of healing leads to healing by works.

The name it and claim it folks tell us that healing is by faith, just like salvation, and then send you on a search and destroy mission to find out what the healing is not manifest.

It puts your eyes on everything but Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, whom we are supposed to keep out eyes on.

Instead they become focused on our problems, our saith, our sin, us, whatever. it simply removes our eyes from Jesus where they are supposed to be and stay.

Trying to teach people that God is obliged to heal you, prosper you, keep you from harm, etc. is designed to raise doubt and thus insult God.

It's also devastates many when they encounter difficulties and trials.

It shakes their faith and leads them to doubt God, doubt their faith, their salvation etc.

It's a very damaging destructive theology that God is your sugar daddy who's obligated to give you a happy and prosperous life.

Especially when Jesus Himself said that in this world we WILL HAVE tribulation. But we are to be of good cheer, because HE has over come the world. Not be of good cheer cause He won't ever let anything bad happen to you.

Well, isn't being the net pope kind of like being a pharisee of the pharisees?

Kind of like a pharisee on steroids?

Just wait until you're a Pharisee AND a Net Pope. Man...then you've got it good!

Don't forget, Big Hoss, being as you are the official Net Popish name approver, you already gave me my Pope name. No one has called me a Pharisee yet, but I am sure it is just a matter of time before someone does. Then, I will have reached the apogee of spirituality. 😇👍

Or you have generational curses. Someone generations back did something that you need to repent of for them for.

I have no doubt that is probably it. Somebody in the past, must have had a vapor lock. The problem is, they are all dead, so I can't asked them where they screwed up.
I guess I will have to figure this out all by myself. Meanwhile, I still need healing, like many of the rest of you. 😀😄😇

Well, I hope we do bro. I hope it is just some aberrant thinking. I have known some nice Christian people that were somewhat into this, but not to where it became an obsession, and they didn't push the issue.

So nothing Jesus says belongs to the Church? You must be a “Pauline Christian”.

I didn't say that nor did I imply that...

Do you recite The LORD’s prayer?

No I don't...Jesus did not tell me to pray that prayer...

Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Someone is told to pray for the kingdom to come...That's the physical kingdom...When Jesus will be on Earth to reign as he does in heaven...

And, I have no need to pray for the Kingdom of God to come which is the spiritual kingdom...I received that Kingdom the moment I became born again...

Are you aware that much of what Jesus spoke was to His disciples who would become the leaders of the Church?

All of what Jesus spoke was to his disciples...And yes they did become leaders of the church...It's also true that Jesus changed his doctrine to these disciples after he was Crucified...

The apostles will have a far larger role than being leaders of the churches...They will reign over the twelve tribes of Israel during the Millennial reign of Jesus...

He was training them, knowing that the Church was to be given birth through them.

Yes, the Jewish church...The Gentile church was revealed to the apostle Paul and then the other apostles...And the doctrines changed at that time...

What He spoke to them was also to us, as they are the leaders and examples given to the Church.

Spiritually? Absolutely...What they were taught doctrinally was for the Tribulation and Millennial Kingdom...There was no Gentile church...They were forbidden to invite Gentiles into the Jewish churches...

They then taught the early believers all about what Jesus said and did. They spoke and also did miracles in His Name.

And why did they do that???

Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Joh 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

1Co 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1Co 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

All of the Jews taught by Jesus required a sign...That's why the miracles...The miracles were for a sign to unbelieving Jews...The Jews would not have believed without them...

You are wrong, but have been taught and accepted a prevailing false teaching concerning who Christ intended to gift with much of what He revealed.

You mean like 'tongues'???

1Co_14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

But you cannot summarily reject what He said as not being for the Church. If you do, you miss out on HIM.

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

We're talking every believer here:
cast out devils
speak with new tongues (foreign languages)
handle deadly snakes
drink poison...

Why??? For a sign to those who seek a sign, the Jews...Not the churches...

1Co 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

1Co 1:23 But we (Christians,) (do not seek a sign nor do we seek after philosophy; man's wisdom) preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Gee...anyone can patchwork quilt snippets of out-of-context verses and pretty much make them say almost anything they want. Good thing you gave references so others can look up the passages for themselves. Nobody’s denying anything - just the false doctrine cooked up by the unstable and unlearned they wrest from God’s word.

Your denial and rejection of I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2) is your problem and is between you and God.

Why keep falsely accusing others of denial and rejection of a salutation from the Apostle John to believers? The only thing rejected is the false interpretation that takes his "wish" that they would prosper and be in health to mean God is stating ALL believers will be prosperous and healthy all the time. That WILL happen in heaven. It MAY even happen on this earth for some. But it's certainly not a promise that ALL will ALL the time. This world is NOT our home.

we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:3-5)

To: boatbums; Jim 0216; MHGinTN; Alex Murphy; bkaycee; caww; CynicalBear; daniel1212; dragonblustar; ...

And actually, he wouldn’t greet them saying that he wished they’d prosper and be in health even as their soul is in health, if they already were in health.

And when you look up the Greek, the word for *wish* (in some translations) is the word for *pray*.

It is not the word that indicates that it is the wish, as in God’s will, but it’s a word that indicates that John is praying, asking God, that believers would be in health and prosper as their soul prospers.

The word for *prosper* means to have a happy journey.

Here’s a link to the Greek.

http://biblehub.com/text/3_john/1-2.htm

So not only is the verse taken out of context, it is misinterpreted and misapplied.

Hermeneutics is NOT the friend of the Blab It And Grab it crowd.

Nor, apparently, is common sense.
