BTW, that 'believe' is in Greek the root word for faith, and is often used in the Bible in verb form, as in faithing. I suppose that if you cease to faithe (verb form) in Jesus as Savior and Lord, your Deliverer, you could be in immortal danger. But I cannot answer that one definitively except to cite what Jesus said about His hand holding you and God's hand holding you.

After seventy years, I've at least learned how poor is my 'clever' where satan chooses to scrum. That makes me depend the more upon Jesus since I know He is more than capable to keep me unto the end of this sojourn in a fallen flesh nature.

'pisteuo' ... Faith, believe, and believeth-- all derive from the Greek word ‘pisteuo’. In the Greek the verbs give rise to the nouns, so ‘pisteuo’ --to faithe-- gives rise to ‘pistis’, the noun --faith. Important to the understanding of the use of ‘pistis’ is that it is at its heart an action word which, in the way used in many passages, it is an ongoing action, an immediate application with continuous force, an unending application --not continuous if referred back to, but a thing instituted by God not man, then remaining in effect WHILE the ‘faither’ lives the remainder of life ‘faithing’.

No interpretation at all, plain reading of the text, the whole text.

In a plain reading of the text, then, *brothers* and *sisters* mean *brothers* and *sisters*, siblings of the same parents.

And in the ORIGINAL GREEK it can mean cousins, second cousins, and even and Uncle and nephew relationship (See Abram and Lot). And please pay attention to the scriptures that showed 4 of those “brothers” as the son’s of a different father and mother. But you may understood that if you had actually read the article.

Genesis was written in Hebrew, but carry on...

The whole catholic argument of Mary's perpetual virginity rests upon this statement of Mary's in Luke 1:34.

The plain reading of Luke 1:34 does not have Mary making a perpetual pledge of virginity.

Nor does the Greek.

The catholic argument fails based on this statement.

The whole concept has no Scriptural base and there’s no need for it.

The prophecy was that a virgin conceive and bear a son. That happened.

What happened to Mary after the birth of the Messiah is irrelevant.

And sex with her lawful husband is NOT sin. Sex is not dirty or defiling as Catholicism leaves the distinct impression it is. If Mary were indeed sinless, sinless she would have remained even if she had sex with Joseph since he was her HUSBAND.

If you are honest the very most you can say is: "There is scriptural backing, we just choose to read/ interpret it differently."

Not having read all your posts, have you ever conceded that there is scriptural backing for Mary not remaining a virgin?

Verga, the Greek doesn’t show it and you know it. Why are you being so obstinate on this point?

Last time I checked the OT was originally primarily written in Hebrew. You got something indicating otherwise this would be ground breaking.

Once shorn of the facade of truth, and left swinging on the breeze of "tradition," the only thing left to do is to deny truth to the very face of God.

But, then, we are speaking of Roman Catholicism, so it's really not surprising that lies made from whole cloth and called "tradition" are far easier to "support" that to admit that God's own inherent, breathed-out Word does not support their church's position.

Sad... but true.

Here’s a thought...go back and read your OWN words (if they really are yours) and strike through all the extraneous conjecture, premature conclusions and YOPIOS (your own private interpretations of what Scripture actually says) and then decide if you really HAVE “clear Scriptural proof”. That includes the passages you skip over and/or ignore because they logically disprove this “unassailable” proof you keep insisting you have presented.

This is why I don’t accept this dogma. It really has nothing to do with it being a Catholic belief. Unless you can deal with that, don’t waste your time trying to bully me into swallowing it. It won’t work.

Have you ever conceded that 2+2 does not equal 4?
