READ THE ARTICLE
Like I said I did enough homework for all of you.
You've failed to address the use of prototokos vs monogenes between Luke and John.
None of the translations you cite say Mary is taking a vow of virginity. None.
Face it...the Greek is against you as is Scripture.
My first post was, this will be fun, was posted at 10:45:53
My rebuttal to you was at 4:51:07.
Plenty of time to have read your article and do my homework.
Those pigeons are circling again.
Checkmate.
That's exactly what is being claimed.
And not only that, but God sends an angel to tell Joseph to not be afraid to take Mary as his wife while she is allegedly also the spouse of the Holy Spirit.
Do Catholics not believe that the Holy Spirit is God?
SO God sends an angel to tell Joseph he can go ahead and commit adultery with Mary while she's supposed to be married to God Himself? A husband giving another man permission to marry his wife?? I've often wondered is Catholics ever really think through the things they have been spoon fed their whole lives and it does not appear to be so.
It may he the only conclusion some Catholics draw, but it isn't the "only" one nor are you basing your argument "entirely" on Scripture. Frankly, I'm surprised that you would throw out this challenge seeing as it is brought up and discussed on a frequent basis here on these threads and you seem to frequently pitch a fit when non-caths dare disagree and explain why. What makes this any different and how will you control your fellow Caths when they start criticizing them for "attacking" Catholics or Mary???
Agreed. The virgin birth was all about Jesus and His divinity and fulfillment of Messianic prophecy. The "perpetual" virginity makes it all about Mary and has NOTHING to do with Scriptural fulfillment.
Difference being with the examples you cite and the one regarding Mary’s alleged pledge at three......one set is inspired and accepted as Scripture, one is not.
As are all of the marian dogmas. It’s all part of the worship of the Catholic Mary who is not Mary of the bible.
"After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. For neither did his brethren believe in him. Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. (John 7:1-9)
Maybe you don’t know this but the Roman Catholic church makes belief in the Marian dogmas (her sinlessness, her perpetual virginity and her bodily assumption into heaven) mandatory. Are you sure you want your kids coming home and telling you you’re going to hell because you don’t believe it?
It was common practice that there was a period of “betrothal” (usually one year) and then the bridegroom took his betrothed as his wife and the marriage was consummated. This was done for several reasons but the one in question here was to ensure the bride was a virgin and not pregnant with another man’s child. The bill of divorce Joseph contemplated giving Mary was because she was found with child before they were come together. I thought you already knew this verga.
Be honest here...if someone produced the evidence you are asking for, would it change your mind or will we see that this is just another provocative thread designed to stir up dissension?
I know. This so-called appealing to Scripture for their defense is a sham. Everyone knows they don’t believe Scripture is the primary authority.
In your opinion.
If you had read the article you would not say things that make you appear foolish
Perhaps you should read the article, that was covered.
Ouch!
