BTW, you’ve mentioned a denomination in Protestantism that I’m not familiar with. Could you name a few?
The one I am most familiar with is seems to no longer be in existence. The pastor was named Lloyd Gypsum (sp?). They were a Quasi Baptist church. They are called "Faith Bible Baptist church" located on N. Gravel rd.
The new(est) pastor seems to be named Rich Damey.
Ole Lloyd advocated snake handling and the members of the congregation did several animal sacrifices. To avoid protests from PETA and charges of animal cruelty they did cook the meat afterwards. NO this was not a covered dish/ Shared dish/ potluck Bar-B-Que. Lloyd was a Fred Phelps type character.
Medina has MAAC (Medina area association of churches). All the Churches got together to meet the needs of the disadvantaged. The Lutheran's did the food bank, The Catholics did the Heat and electric assistance, Calvary church does the clothing depot... etc...
Lloyd's was the only church that did not participate and he even disfellowed several families for asking for assistance from MAAC.
