Isn’t that the truth?
Wonder not, that I said to thee, you must be born again.
Uh-ho....guess which translation this is from??
DOUAY-RHEIMS
It notes "born again" in John 3:3, 3:4; 3:7
Also, anothen occurs 13 times in 13 verses.
http://biblehub.com/greek/509.htm Well, as always, a little context is helpful in these situations.
From John 3:1-7 NASB
1Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, âRabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.â
3Jesus answered and said to him, âTruly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.â
4Nicodemus said to Him, âHow can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his motherâs womb and be born, can he?â
5Jesus answered, âTruly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6âThat which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7âDo not be amazed that I said to you, âYou must be born again.â
Oh my goodness. I tried for weeks, before Thanksgiving and before Christmas, to buy a turkey, and COULDN'T get one. I had a choice between longaniza, kinilaw, afritada, lumpia, tilapia, lechon, tocino, adobo, and hot pan de sal. I am suffering for Jesus here.
:-)
As you are appealing to the Greek are you now willing to concede my points on protokos and monogenes and how they are used to describe Christ?
I’m going to take my chances listening to 2000 years of Tradition and teaching authority over that of some German, Anglo, Swiss or Scotch-Irish heretics on issues of Biblical interpretation.
Most of that has nothing to do with what I posted, a lot was unreadable and a lot shows how misinformed and overly intellectualized the wasted effort was.
Some beat me to the gnat/camel thingie, fits real good.
While you were typing that you could have been asking God to show you the simple truth of being born again—from above in the Latin—enter the kingdom of God and obtain everlasting life.
You want to be the one that tries to snatch Christians out of Jesus’ and God the Father’s hands?
Sure a lot of words to show that it seems you also see Jesus as a heretic. That’s on you bub.
Yeah, don't let that pesky Bible get in your way!
It's heretical right?
It's 88 F here. I should walk two blocks to the beach. I can't handle the heat.
:-)
Plus Catholic liturgical music sure as heck beat out Christian rock. If I’m wrong at least I won’t have to listen to that noise while here on Earth. And I’m betting that Mary was a better Christian than any of us. Just a hunch.
It’s a well known fact.
You, as a Catholic, are not allowed to believe it though.
I noticed one of my posts disappeared, did you do that?
BTW I hope you don’t think my comment the sentence before last is personal, it’s a rule of Catholicism that you must believe what they believe. No wiggle room at all.
Oh and nice trap.
How many times have we seen Catholics not accepting “historical sources, or secular sources?”
Of course you are welcome to show me where Catholicism appointed popes 2,3,4,5, etc until the Catholic Church came into it’s own in the third century.
I see you pinged your posse.
Last post on this: Protokos- Opens the Womb. God does not have a womb. That is the sole reason that monogenes was used where it was. Your own definitions and mine as well showed this.
No your interpretation of it is.
If the priest thinks that the person is not sincere in his confession, just doing it because he feels that he will be automatically forgiven, the priest might attempt to counsel with the person, but if he detects a lack of sincerity, he is free to refuse remission.
I posted the truth, I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you. BTW still waiting for you to document your statement about the Catholic
Church’s beginning using actual real sources.
That's exactly what you're doing.
Not me. I'm placing my faith and trust in Christ, not a man-made religion of Roman Catholicism.
Hoss
Good, then it should be easy enough to document using real legitimate sources, or secular sources.
OMG, you aren't really challenging them are you LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL...ETC.!!!
Go ahead, keep thinking that, knock yourself out.
I have not interpreted it.
The Holy Spirit did.
You are wrong
Oh and that heretic dig you are throwing around?
Own it.
