No, they did not. I know because I had my Bble with me so try again. Bless your little heart.

Sure they did....each of the "denominations" think that they are the right one....they aren't. There is only one correct interpretation of the Bible and that is the Catholic interpretation....it was the ONLY interpretation on Earth until the Protestant revolution decided that they could go off on a tangent and somehow make up their own bible interpretations. Luther, Zwingley, Calvin, Henry VIII, Smith, et.al. had their own DIFFERENT ideas....they were all wrong.....period.

Of course you are not supposed to bring other threads into a disagreement in the Religion Forum.

You really want to use that example, where I was the FIRST to make a personal comment?

I said, in that link:

Hatin' on Trump supporters takes a hit on your credibility.
That, in my opinion, is true.

Now here is what I was commenting upon, which you posted:

Remove the **** Trump nozzle from your face it's suffocating you
I guess I should have asked you to show me a link from THIS thread, but I didn't think you would want to go to another one in the News Forum to embarrass yourself.

Comments like yours are not allowed it the RF (I had to censor your curse word) nor are personal attacks such as your post I quoted even allowed on Free Republic at all.

Did you ever read this little blurb at the bottom of where you post a comment?

"Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."

You've been here since the last century, you should have seen it by now...

: > )

Without them, you wouldn't have the faintest idea of what it said. Luke 19:40 "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the very stones will cry out."

Fortunately for all of us, the Catholics didn't keep quiet so you can put the stones back in your garden.....they probably weren't real talkative in the first place.

And each one interpreted the bible differently....See, you are beginning to get the idea....there are not 30,000 different ways to interpret the Bible. Prove it.

Ahhhhh a typical protestant response.....do it your own way.

Prove most people in that day couldn’t read. You keep making a lot of unfounded assertions and expect us to believe you just on your say so. It ain’t happening. Show us the basis for your comments otherwise, there’s simply no reason for anyone to believe you.

Just, for a brief moment or two, use common sense.....there was virtually nothing available to the average person, to read....no books, no periodicals, they had town criers who provided them with the news of the day....there was very little, if any written correspondence and they had scribes to do that....there was no necessity for the average person to learn to read....THERE WAS NOTHING TO READ.

So, provide us with a link of the official, Vatican approved, inerrant, ex cathdra type interpretation of Scripture.

Surely there must be an official Catholic Bible Commentary floating around somewhere that gives a verse by verse exposition of the entire Bible.

After all, according to you, they’ve had a good 2,000 years to work on it.

Why do Catholics think that sex between a husband and wife is wrong or sinful?

Wow, you slept through Catechism class AND sex education....Catholics teach that consummation of a marriage is necessary in order to make the marriage VALID...You will also notice that Catholic families are on average larger than protestant families who believe that artificial birth control and abortion are acceptable. sheesh.

Nonsense. There was Scripture to rad and there were business records to read.

List of libraries in the ancient world
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_libraries_in_the_ancient_world

The OT Scripture is full of recorded instances of decrees being sent out to people in many of the nations mentioned besides Israel. In ancient Israel if a man divorced a woman, he was to give her a WRITTEN divorce certificate. An odd command if most of the people could not read or write.

Since you have yet to provide any evidence to support your contention, we can pretty safely conclude that it’s wrong.

...each of the "denominations" think that they are the right one

Do you just post what comes into your mind and then type?

Each denomination, group, bible study etc within the body of Christ...the Biblical body of Christ not the Catholic one...is right because they follow scripture and the Holy Spirit. (Where 2 or more are gathered in my name...)

There is only one correct interpretation of the Bible and that is the Catholic interpretation

For Catholics, that is fine. Interpreted by men.

Christians on the other hand use scriptures God breathed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the only One that can interpret the Bible correctly.

The rest of your post is just your normal spam, no justification for the comments in Christian circles.

Who cares what Catholicism taught. Mary was betrothed to Joseph and in Israel, that was considered a legal valid marriage. Joseph had in mind to divorce her quietly BEFORE the marriage was consummated, to that blows your argument out of the water.

You will also notice that Catholic families are on average larger than protestant families who believe that artificial birth control and abortion are acceptable. sheesh.

OK, so for non-Catholic families who don't believe contraception and abortion are acceptable, how does the comparison fall out.

BTW, if birth control is wrong, then *natural* birth control is just as much a sin as *artificial* birth control, no matter how the church wants to approve of it and relabel it.

it is the theological equivalent of covering their ears while shouting “LALALALA I can’t here you.”

And when you do say something, like in this post, you deny the Holy Scriptures of God.

Yeah, that is not how sources are cited. If you can’

If you can’t prove something, why post it?

That just shows that your posts are just blowing smoke.

Thanks, you just proved that Mary and Joseph's marriage was valid.

Joseph pretty much knocked the stuffing out of that fantastical Perpetual Virgin thingie.

I’m gonna take a wild guess and say you never bothered to read all those links I gave you about the various ancient libraries established throughout the world the last time you made this ridiculous assertion. What did they hold...relics???

Are you unfamiliar with the Jewish traditions of teaching their young to read the Hebrew scriptures? Can you explain why there even was a Septuagint - the Greek translation of those scriptures that started 200 years BEFORE Christ was born? Can you explain how even fishermen and carpenters would know how to read in order to conduct business? I’ve yet to see anything approaching proof for these nutty opinions of yours. Do you have any?

Several years ago I watched a documentary on that. Frankly, I was amazed at just how any people back then could read. I had just never thought about it. Like you said, decrees were sent out all the time so someone had to be able to read those. There were important libraries in old cities. What good were they if no one could read?
