Playing musical chairs with pedophiles. Thats a ‘rule’ that the upper echelon of the church put in play many times around the world. They protected their own at the expense of children.

This ridiculous ‘he was misquoted’ line they (leadership) drag out which has quite literally happened every time their leftists say something that flies in the face of the Bible’s teachings.

The rule that the only people excommunicated seem to be those defying the leadership, rather than those defying God. Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy spring immediately to mind. It’s either a rule or they are incompetent and shouldn’t be leading the church because of it.

Then there is this fiasco of a Synod that had more liberalism spoken and pushed by the leadership than a GOP convention. Which are very much ‘rules’. And as always, they will enact the rules that were shot down, just as the Democrats they support do when the voters tell them ‘No”. Gay acceptance being the biggie here.

You may say ‘These are not rules’. Obviously they are rules because they are employed consistently and demanded/carried out by the leadership/Vatican...who MAKE whatever rules at whatever time they feel the need to. At some point, the RC Church is going to find itself with a not sizable core group of true believers because with each passing day, more Catholics become ex-catholic as a matter of soul searching. And that core group that insists on denying fidelity to the unchanging word of God is and will remain free to so so.

None of which changes the reality that the leadership of the modern church is following someone/thing other than the God described in their very own book. Denying it is something all are free to do. But it does not change the facts that we can all see with our own eyes and hear with our own ears.

Just a quick comment (though I may get back to this tomorrow when I have time): you cite serious scandalous rule-breaking and conflate this with "the rules". Rule-breaking does not equal "the rules" any more than sleaze=virtue or duplicity=truth.

It's like saying "I'm disgusted with Judaism because of David and Mrs. Uriah." "I'm don't believe in the Constitution because of Ruth Bader Ginsburg." "I'm leaving Jesus because of Judas Iscariot."

The spectacle of sin makes you suffer. Join the club. The only question before you is "In the face of their infidelity, do I leave, or stay? Be unfaithful, or faithful?"

I guarantee you cannot make the Catholic Church be more faithful by leaving.

The severed hand can not heal the body.
