An interesting thought —

If I cut and paste, and get the screwy looking characters, then my post is not an exact copy of the source.

And maybe not a copyright problem?

Probably a false hope. In reality, when the evil forces are after you/us (Drudge interview reference), who cares about the details.

Pray hard. Be ready.

Love and Peace —

Actually, when you cut and paste from the source, you are getting an exact replica. The web used to basically consist of 5 fonts and that was it. They were universal, but they required special html code to view special typesetting characters. I Can't view Breitbart's code right now, but they are probably using a web font (not one of the "original 5") that can show special characters without the code. So when you paste it into FR's editor, it is reading it as a series of characters that it does know...the Euro symbol, apparently. But if you paste it into a text editor, all that special code is stripped out.

I deal with this in my work all the time...MS Word is notorious for adding weird character code that translates into special characters on the web. So I always tell my people to just quickly paste it into Notepad first before copying it. It's faster than having to go through the text and swap out every curly quote or apostrophe.
