and my “Test” is trying to see if a quote mark is responsible for the screwy characters in some posts.
Result: my quote marks from Wordpad cut and pasted just fine.
Need another theory.

The screwy characters happen when we copy and paste from another source. If you replace the quotation marks and apostrophes after you paste the odd characters don’t show up.
Some sites are using special typesetting characters (curly instead of straight quotes) that FR doesn’t recognize without the special character html code. The easiest way to fix it is to copy the text from source, then open a simple text editor such as notepad, paste it into there. Then select and copy it again before pasting into FR editor. The text editor strips out all special characters.
