Pope Francis marks 50th anniversary of Synods institution
Finally, explained Pope Francis, the synodal process culminates in listening to the Bishop of Rome, called upon to speak authoritatively [It. pronunciare] as Shepherd and Teacher of all Christians: not on the basis of his personal beliefs, but as the supreme witness of the Faith of the whole Church, the guarantor of the Churchs conformity with and obedience to the will of God, to the Gospel of Christ and the Tradition of the Church.
And in totally, we swear, completely unrelated news
Traits of narcissistic personality disorder: The most telling thing that narcissists do is contradict themselves. They will do this virtually in the same sentence, without even stopping to take a breath. It can be trivial (e.g., about what they want for lunch) or it can be serious (e.g., about whether or not they love you). When you ask them which one they mean, theyll deny ever saying the first one, though it may literally have been only seconds since they said it really, how could you think theyd ever have said that? You need to have your head examined!
UPDATE: an explanatory comment from my Guy Inside
Hes fudging hes strongly implying infallibility, but not saying that he will pronounce infallibly.
He wants everyone to come away with Whoa
this is infallible. We hear and obey! but leaving plausible deniability to say, No, no, I never claimed this particular bit was infallible

So what are the differences between Henry VIII and your Paraguayan adulteress?
Ok...explain them to us. I hope you know your Greek.
Great! But again your wrong.
“Love how Bible worshipers get all in a tizzy when you dont buy their lies.”
Uh huh. Can you point to one place upthread (I’m still reading) where any “Bible worshiper” said:
“Go play golf and STFU.”
So, I wont lay you to the curb today. (Charity!)
“Third, he knows a hell of a lot more about religion than your hick ass.”
Tizzy? TIZZY?
“I still read my Douay-Reims version...”
I read it, too! (When posting Scripture on Catholic/Protestant threads)
“...but see nothing wrong with making it easier to follow....more will read it if they can figure out what it means.”
Agreed (King James the same).
“...the clear and obvious establishment of the priesthood in both the Old Testament...”
Agreed.
“...and the New Testament...”

Henry VIII divorced because Anne Boleyn was unable to produce a son so that that he have a male heir to the throne.
You call the poor Paraguayan woman an “adulteress” and consign her to a life without Christ but its interesting that Christ offered no condemnation to the woman at the well and did not wall her off. The Divine encounter with the woman with five prior husbands was not only changed as communion with the Christ does but she evangelized a whole town.
Remember, society had shunned her. This is what she went to the well at mid-day where no one visits the well because of triple digit temperatures. She avoided the other men and women who visit the well either early in the morning or late at evening when temperatures were cooler. Thus the surprise to find a Jewish man asking her to draw Him a drink of water. We know what occurred next.
John 4:4: 26
A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, Give me a drink. (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria? (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water. The woman said to him, Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well, and with his sons and his flocks drank from it? Jesus said to her, Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life. The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.
Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband, and come back. The woman answered him, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You are right in saying, I have no husband; for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true! The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem. Jesus said to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. The woman said to him, I know that Messiah is coming (who is called Christ). When he comes, he will proclaim all things to us. Jesus said to her, I am he, the one who is speaking to you.
“He writes like a Protestant or an apostate Catholic.”
Or a Pope. (Francis, just sayin’.)
“May I suggest the New American Standard. Best literal translation of the Word available.”
I’ve heard that but it’s a dry read. I shifted to ESV because of David Cochran Heath’s reading of it. I found the perfect reader of Scripture for myself, and have been blessed immensely at work and while riding my bike.
lol! You may have a point.
“Christ told the woman to go and sin no more...What part of that do you not comprehend?”
The same part that you, I and everyone else didn’t:
GO AND SIN NO MORE.
Say you did and the Apostle of love says you are a LIAR:
“If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”1 John 1:10
AMEN!
You appear to have neglected to post the rest:
Jesus saith to her: Woman, believe me, that the hour cometh, when you shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, adore the Father. [22] You adore that which you know not: we adore that which we know; for salvation is of the Jews. [23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth.
All is for God alone to judge.
Isn’t it your turn to handle the snakes and froth at the mouth tonight? :-)
So why is Francis trying to change what God has already judged about the indissolubility of marriage?
Do you consider Francis to be God?
Its pretty sad when your cult er religion is so boring you have to have to come on a catholic thread for a thrill. LOL!
“Its pretty sad when your cult er religion is so boring you have to have to come on a catholic thread for a thrill. LOL!”
This is not a “Catholic thread”. It is an OPEN THREAD on Free Republic’s Religion Forum. FYI.
I hate to admit it but I DO find analyzing pretzel logic thrilling.
Makes no difference to what occurred. Her “communion” with Christ changed her. You and some of your confreres on the thread would insist on the “letter of the law” and deny her the event that triggered her experience because she was a five-time adulteress! And then double down by attacking Francis and calling others as “apostates” and question their Catholic beliefs. This is what the Pharisees did.
Reveal! Reveal!
